Now that you have explained yourself to me is there a chance that you could allow this thing to get back on the original topic which had something to do with things Obama has said about both beliefs. Let me make it simple for you by asking you how many of those things he didn't say at one time or another? Yes, you have done a good job of deflection up to now and it is time to discuss the subject I wanted to discuss. You are welcome to start a thread of your own to discuss what you worry about.

I took a quick look at 15 of the quotes and remembered several, so I have to conclude the list is accurate as to what he said. To make a good discussion, I think we need to figure the context of the quotes and the dates related to them. Could be a fun day to do exactly that..

If your one person refers to one Muslim I will have to say that you didn't miss out on any part of those who came in. They were surely not Muslims.

Were the Barbary pirates Muslim? Only thing I recall hearing in high school, the marines beat them to a pulp.. Back to the quotes, some of them were made when the object of the military was to try and calm down reactions to anything we did. Recall the commotion when some solders burned a burned a bunch of holy books by "accident"?

Correct, but they were later used to fight the Barbary Pirates.

Quote:
A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, PA, to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore. November 10, 1775, the Marine Corps was born.

1st Commandant: Major Samuel Nicholas (1775-1783)

According to this MilitaryTimes, which doesn't sound absolutely certain, it came out of 1847 The Battle of Chapultepec:

Quote:
1847: The Battle of Chapultepec
The Halls of MontezumaThe Mexican-American War played a critical role in defining the border between the two nations that remains in place today.

In 1847, knowing that the capture of the Palacio Nacional would greatly disarm the Mexican army, the Marines stormed the enemy fortress during the Battle of Chapultepec.

After two days of battle, the Marines gained control of the castle, better known as the “Halls of Montezuma.”

The Marines were then given the honor of raising the Stars and Stripes over the palace to mark their victory. Upon returning home, the same Marines presented their f**g to the commandant.

The victory at the “Halls of Montezuma” remains a part of Marine Corps tradition, immortalized in the opening line of the famed Marines’ Hymn.

Thanks for the link. Congratulations to your son, and you for having a fine son..I had thought the version we were told that the "halls of Montezuma" and the blood strip came from different battles. But I will concede to the words in the link.. 29 Palms I got to visit a few times but the hazing is new to me.. Hot, dusty and dirty are the deepest memories of it..Had a jungle village setup for practice one of those times..Seemed such a stretch for a jungle, could not even find the 29 palms....

Sorry, my mistake, but what Islam's part in the American story is, is the first war after the United States became a nation. In 1801, the year Jefferson became president, the Muslim Barbary Pirates demanded $225,000, plus an annual tribute of $25,000. When Jefferson refused, the Pasha (Lord) of Tripoli declared war.Jefferson sent a small squadron of frigates into the Mediterranean .

Yes, that brings the correct story to mind. And the frigates carried marines who went ashore and had a quick battle...thanks...

Correct. But it's a huge stretch, more accurately an all out lie for Little POS Barry to make this statement.
