Perhaps you missed my qualifiers, such as "some" and "seem,": this was not indictment of atheists nor an endorsement for the faithful. And I know there are Christians as you described but I find many overly eager, like me.

fair enough, point made!

Even though I don't believe any more, the teachings in the new testament have great value, Caring ,sharing, forgiveness etc. Unfortunately in todays world the powerful have maneuvered us into a position that hardly expresses the teachings of Jesus or our core beliefs. As long as we fight against each other we will never be able to tie things together.

For 1 I can find no reason disagree with you about this issue. Could that be a start?

There are billions of Buddhists, Taoists and Hindus on planet earth . The God of Abrahmic religions seems to have no knowledge about them, no prophecies either, although they were very much there having pretty advanced civilizations long before Moses got his 10 commandments .

However, as for God, besides the good conduct , that was the requirement of all human settlements , it is all about the force that created the universe. Why does it have to be a single force ? There could be several forces interacting to cause the Big Bang .Secondly, must it have a g****r ? the Old testament God is so insistantly male .

Some where there is a God. I know this from the bottom of my heart. There is no way that evolution would work. That is a positive. I will give you an example. I am 100% disabled. Three doctors told me that I would NEVER be able to walk the length of my home. They all filled out the paper work for Social Security to purchase me a Hover-a-round powered wheel chair. Two years later after having my car adapted for no leg operation and a lift for the chair I drove into a small church. I had not been in church for many years. I did pray every night and every morning for God to help me stay sober as I am an alcoholic. The Pastor walked up to me and asked if he could pray for me. I told him "I will take all the help I can get". That was 7 years ago. I drove the wheel chair to my car and put if in the back. NOW I had to hold on to the car for balance, but this time I just walked to the front of the car. My mind was crazy. I walked back into the church and asked the Pastor what he had done to me. He told me "Nothing" and then pointed UP. The wheel chair has stayed in the back storage shed ever since. NOW you tell me that there is no God. Not only has he got me walking but also on 9/10/13 I celebrated 40 years sobriety. Believe me fully "THERE IS A GOD" and he has changed our bodies and instructed Doctors in their profession, and changed the whole way we think. Thank you for reading this. I believe in God 100%

I am so happy for you! Those of us who have been touched by the hand of God KNOW there is one, regardless of what anyone says. If others choose to deny the value of miracles, that's their right. Their plight is pitiable, but it's their choice, and it's O.K. with me if they want to plod along without divine help in times of need.

You make a good point. As a matter of fact, in Genesis 1:1, the properly t***slated verse is "In the beginning, GODS created the heavens and earth." The word used for "God," is "Elohim," which is a uni-plural noun, indicating a group, or more accurately, a family. John 1:1 states "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....." So the Bible does support your hypothesis, even though most people are unaware of this.
Your statement about Taoists and Buddhists is incorrect. The Mosaic Law predates these two, although Hinduism, or a form of it, appears to have already been a going concern during this period. The Upanishads, and parts of the Bhagavad Gita appear to predate the Mosaic revelations. I have already stated my position: I have an unshakeable belief in God, or a Supreme Intelligence, and an absolute belief that this being is nothing like what is portrayed by ANY of the world's "organized" religions.

It cannot be proven or disproven, so in that regard we are all agnostics-I don't know and you really don't know either. I just wanted to all this topic because of the "Can evolution be proven" post

One doesn't have to be either an atheist or a Christian to see the rationale behind your reasoning! As Tasine says, it's really just a matter of having Faith, or not having faith. Arguing is futile, IMHO. Agnosticism would seem to have some inevitable basis in existing.

I envy people of Faith, I truly do, but understand some questioning the basis for that Faith.

Actually, believe it or not - the 'existence of God' can almost be proven from a fiction novel... called "Twinkle, Twinkle K**ler Kane" written by William Peter Blatty. The same author who ironically wrote "The Exorcist."

I read this novel many years ago about an astronaut who refused to go to the moon unless someone 'proved' to him that God existed.... it is 'proven' this way.

"You have two possible conditions in the universe - either it always existed or it was created.

Let's consider the First Condition - 'The Universe Always Existed.' If The Second Law Of Thermodynamics applies then all motion and all energy is a result of temperature difference.

'If The Universe Always Existed you would have Heat Death - it would all be the same temperature.

Therefore it was Created.

Interesting premise. I'll have to think about that one.

Deep down I feel that in all man kind burns a feeling of a force of goodness. Call it what you will but it needs to be called forth some how.

It most certainly can be proven. Just look around you and you will see God every where......or you can believe the Naysayers, that everything we see was created from nothing! I choose to believe otherwise!!!

I am as well. There is a newer book called "11 Days In May" by J.D. Messinger - a former submarine captain who broke his back twice - and was compelled to write this conversation with 'his conscience'... about The World Of Form and The World Of Energy -(physical vs. spiritual)... and how visualizing The World Of Energy helped him walk again.
