Having lived in Europe for over 20 years, I can state that while in some countries the medical care is great (Germany and The Netherlands) in most of the other countries I would be frightened to take a member of my family for help.

I also know that even in Germany and The Netherlands you have to wait for long periods of time for operations that are considered not emergency; i.e. gall bladder (3 month wait) as well as others. In England, if a person has reached the average life expectancy, the government will not allow you to have such life saving surgeries as bypass surgery to name one. If you are past that magic number, you no longer have any value so why 'waste' the money.

Guess Obama "death panels will do the same here as in England

But everybody is different and some are still in otherwise good health and will probably have a long life yet if certain surgeries are allowed but will be forced to die a slow and painful death without the surgeries. After all of these fools are out of office they to shall age and maybe it would do them good to consider that fact.

They will 'exempt' themselves from any such regulatory rules. After all, aren't 'they' more equal than any of us peasants?

Of course they believe that they are gods and we are to be the worshipers of these said gods. Therefore if you are a god then you are expected to live close to forever so that you can inflict as much pain as you can on the worshipers and make them jump through hoops endlessly just for your amusement. Isn't government fun. Don't you wish you were a congressman.

If I were a congressman I'm sure that I would suffer a 'tragic' accident or fatal mugging. Maybe be found a pederast or other d********g reprobate so as to completely discredit my political stance?

I know that if I were a congressman it would be a very very short term as my family would make sure I v**ed correctly or they would hold my funeral in short order with or without my approval.

There were NO DEATH PANELS. Sarah Palin pulled that out of her hindquarters-there was a code in the medical payment book that would reimburse a doctor if he had an end of life discussion with a patient-such as explaining a medical directive, such as a "do not resusitate" order, at a patients REQUEST, such a a patient with terminal cancer. Or, a medical directive that stated a patient wishes if they were in a persistant coma- would they or would they not like to be kept on a ventilator or have tube feeding. Thanks to Sarah, that billing code was removed, and doctors who do end of life counseling will no longer be paid to do so. I am an RN, and Sarah was wrong about death panels. End of life discusssions are important for every patient. Have one with your family, and make your wishes known, and in writing.

End of life discussions may well be necessary and good but how about you telling us what IPAB is? Maybe you could understand why I have had an O2 concentrator for over 5 years, paid for by Medicare and all of a sudden they decide I don't need it. Could that have anything to do with Obamacare?

I believe that you need to read Sowell's words about how we can't afford health care but we can afford it paid for by the government and regulated by bureaucrats. Can you handle that? Try reading the link that this thread was based on.

Lets consider the added expense of a bureaucracy to run Obamacare. We should since the left hasn't looked there yet. Just think, when that bureaucracy does what has been mentioned here, already we can see that health care will cost much money but that bureaucracy is there to make sure that rationing takes place and old people aren't to be allowed to live.

I was just hit with some of that rationing this morning. It is the state Medicare people deciding that I didn't need the concentrator of oxygen I had had for over 5 years. My doctor read the results of the test they ran on me and said you certainly do qualify and within a week the provider called and said Medicare said I don't. I have enough COPD that at some times at night my CPAPP machine just doesn't force enough air into my lungs and the little bit of oxygen was making a lot of difference. I believe that one night I won't be able to get enough oxygen and will no longer be a burden on the nation. Rationing is what this all comes to.

Roy, I too use a CPAP machine and will be getting an inhaler soon. Bureaucrats are not medically competent to decide what best meets a patient's needs. They usually follow instructions received from their supervisors who may know as little medicine as their subordinates. The rationing will become more apparent as more Obamacare rules are rolled out. This rationing will be realized for what it is as the 'death squads' decide who will receive the operations or medications necessary to sustain life for the patient. I've heard 75 is the limit for profitability.

I began treatment by a dermatologist in November knowing that I would never get it done after Jan. 1, 2014. I may not get to finish since my form of skin cancer doesn't usually k**l people and I have said some very unkind things about ACA and Obama so I am sure my name is on a list.

Yeah, I'm probably on the same list or one very like it. Maybe a red dot on my medical records? I get my right eye done next week, cataract surgery. My reasoning was the same as yours - Jan. 1, 2014. As Red Green says, "Hang in there, I'm pulling for you! We're all in this together".

Speaking of lists, have you seen this yet?

I agree AnnMarie, there were no death panels, but there will be after obamacare is fully implemented. When you finally emerge from your hole, if you do, open your eyes and ears. And by all means seek alternative news sources other than MSNBC, NT Times, CNN and the Huffy Post. They may educate you as to what is actually happening outside your little existence. I doubt it, but it's worth a try.
