Forgive me Carol, I just came out of anesthesia an hour ago and am a little fuzzy in the brain (but bored stiff, lol). The occupier of the position must also respect the office of the presidency and the constitution as well.
But, in my opinion, respect for any individual is not something granted simply by position. For individuals, respect must be EARNED by demonstrating integrity, honesty and moral character.
Plain language: The LEGITIMATE POWER of the office should be conferred to the holder of that office, but RESPECT for the office holder must be EARNED by his actions.
To the contrary, as a citizen, it is your DUTY to t***hfully identify any disrespect or unlawful/unconstitutional actions by the occupier of that office. (Really the primary responsibility of the press.)
Criticism of p**********l actions that you consider contrary to the welfare of this country should not restricted in any way by the respect you have for the office of the presidency.
