Gotcha. But remember, it's a crime to threaten the life of POTUS. Although you didn't, as far as I could tell.

There is only one who is worthy of worship, and that's God. I will never bow to anyone else.

Yes, and so the early Christian martyrs believed as well. The initiation of the separation of church and state, culminating in our first amendment.

Nor should we slander him.

It isn't slander if it's the t***h.
Personally I refrain from the creative manipulation of his last name, NOT because I think he deserves any kind of respect, (because he and his wife don't); it's just not my style. I believe that respect is EARNED and the t***h has shown that they don't deserve an ounce of respect from the American people, that THEY have shown no respect for.

Well, this creative manipulation is on my part, unintentional.

Forgive me Carol, I just came out of anesthesia an hour ago and am a little fuzzy in the brain (but bored stiff, lol). I wasn't criticizing or judging anyone, especially you (I actually admire their creativity, lol), I just went off-topic because I didn't want the good people of OPP to think I approve of this evil, lying POS we have occupying the White House just because I don't partake in the creativity. Again, fuzzy in the brain :-)

Great article (and history lesson) on the t***h about the First Amendment regarding the separation of church and state at this link: http://publiushuldah.wordpress.com/category/1st-amendment/
It's the second article down, titled "The Lie of Separation of Church and State; The Supreme Court's Usurpation of Power" (or something close to that).

A very important topic, if you think about it. And I'd like to know your thoughts.

Here is one connection:

If the office of the President is always "highly valued" (definition of Respect) by the people, then the office itself more easily accumulates power--as if people feel that since the power inherent in the office is already valuable, then more power must be even more valuable. Thus power grows until the officeholder becomes, in the eyes of the people, omnipotent and infallible. He has become deified, like the ancient Roman Emperors.

CarolSeer2016,

Of course we should respect the office of the presidency and accord it the respect you should have for the constitution that defines its responsibilities and limitations.

The occupier of the position must also respect the office of the presidency and the constitution as well.

But, in my opinion, respect for any individual is not something granted simply by position. For individuals, respect must be EARNED by demonstrating integrity, honesty and moral character.

Plain language: The LEGITIMATE POWER of the office should be conferred to the holder of that office, but RESPECT for the office holder must be EARNED by his actions.

To the contrary, as a citizen, it is your DUTY to t***hfully identify any disrespect or unlawful/unconstitutional actions by the occupier of that office. (Really the primary responsibility of the press.)

Criticism of p**********l actions that you consider contrary to the welfare of this country should not restricted in any way by the respect you have for the office of the presidency.

Another proof that self-government has failed. We can't let
go of the idea of the worship of personalities.........we'd still
rather have a king or a pope than assume any responsibility
for our lives. We still have the best system of Gov't ever
devised but, I fear, not for much longer, the US has been under
systematic and coordinated attack since the day of our Founding.
