Arrests plummet 66 percent with NYPD in virtual work stoppage

It’s not a slowdown -- it’s a virtual work stoppage.

NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops -- as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.

The dramatic drop comes as Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Mayor Bill de Blasio plan to hold an emergency summit on Tuesday with the heads of the five police unions to try to close the widening rift between cops and the administration.

The unprecedented meeting is being held at the new Police Academy in Queens at 2 p.m., sources said.

Angry union leaders have ordered drastic measures for their members since the Dec. 20 assassination of two NYPD cops in a patrol car, including that two units respond to every call.

The mayor should do what Reagan did, fire them all and replace them.
I don't get paid to not work, no matter how much I like or dislike my boss.

I need to tell DeBlasio about "The Talk" I have had with my teenage daughters. That they need to be extra careful around young black men. How to stay safe.

You're a gem, skott. Cops must work, even when working conditions are much much worse because of DeBlasio-speak!!

Why pay them if they don't do their job? After all, they are not congressmen.

Especially if their job is to protect your own person, right, skott?

I'm pretty good about protecting my own person. I can't remember one time in my life that a policeman has directly protected me. Indirectly is different.

Well, I can pretty much explicate, then, that you will never in your life need direct police protection, right, skott?

No, that would be a bad assumption. What is your point? That police in New York should not do their jobs if they are mad at their boss?

I think police in NYC should have the backing of their boss. Especially if you need them to have your back at some time in the future.

A DeBlasio apology might be appropriate.

Wow, you believe the workers should have control over the boss. I rescind you conservative card.

Reagan fired ATC (air traffic controllers) not a police force. Police are not officially on strike, the ATC's were.

Isn't it a strike if the employees refuse in mass to do there job? Official or not?
