The owner of the gun should be charged with negligent homicide IMO. Let the courts decide from there. If one has kids and guns it is the responsibility of the parents to not only teach, but drill gun safety to the children. If the children is small it’s easy to put a gun out of their reach but in yours. I don’t have kids in the house. I have guns in about every room. When company comes they’re in the gun safe or on my person. Using your sarcastic response we should hold parents responsible if their teenagers sneak out with the car keys and cause someone damage.

Well obviously one can keep the gun in a safe.

That way the criminal can rape and murder your children at his leisure.

Which is the argument for keeping a gun out and unattended. Case in point, my wifes best friend was raped the year she first got out of college and when the rapist got up to relieve himself she shot him 5 times and 4 times more than she needed to k**l him. Of course, she was single, so could be more careless with a gun but when one gets married and has children it's a matter of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Millions of Americans leave guns lying around the house because they are afraid of the boogie man and cower at the thought of not having a piece available to blast their imagined attacker. These guns far more often than being used for defense are misused, stolen, accidentally discharged or fall into the hands of children. Statistics clearly show that people in households with firearms are more at risk of being k**led or injured by gunshots than households without firearms. This is indisputable. So if the same kid grabbed moms car keys and accidentally ran over his brother or cut off his hand with Dads table saw should mom or dad go to jail? I guess the answer is a matter of the degree of neglect and negligence. One thing for sure, neither should ever be allowed to keep firearms again.

Not a bit. Keep the gun readily available but not unattended or just 'laying around.. There are several ways to do that.

No one died is correct. Negligence should be charged.

We’ve talked about this before: “households with firearms are more at risk”…..

As I recall, the statistics were generated in urban areas in California. What “households” are most likely to have guns? Well, people who engage in gang related activities, of course! Is gun violence likely to result while dealing drugs, human trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, “turf” wars, etc.? Of course and the statistics are touted as reflecting average, law abiding households.

I’m calling BS (again) on your misleading post.

Dr Phil show is about 9 year old who shot his 8 year old brother in the chest with his father's gun which was left at bedside table unattended... The boy survived, but what should happen to the parents??.. They're on 1 year probation... No jail..I believe they should if spend at least 3 months in jail.. What do you think?

The problem is not the gun but irresponsible parents who never taught there children about gun safety and irresponsible parents for having a loaded gun. after all we are talking about a 9yr old and a 8 yr old You can have gun and the clip in a different location and a gun lock that a adult can easily remove

That's a great idea. Then the.kids will never learn one takes responsibility for one's own actions. Kinda like you democrats think. S**t like this didn't start happening until it started being uncivilized to take your brats out behind the woodshed. Thank the gods I can't have em.

Why should I be disarmed whilst criminals are let out of jail after being arrested with illegal firearms ?
