I know it is tough for you to swallow, but it was the gun that made it possible for our founders to establish our nation in the first place.
And in case you aren't aware, there are a lot of really bad people in this world, wicked, mean, violent people.
So, those of us aware of these threats will stay prepared to defend ourselves, thank you very much.
Let me ask, do you carry a gun everywhere you go? VA is an open carry state (with exceptions) and yet no one was able to stop this person? Ordinary citizens can't carry guns into schools. It's not beyond the real of possibilities that you could be in a school, unarmed and some crazy person force their way and commit murder? I don't think arming everyone is the answer, nor do I advocate taking guns (including SR type weapons) away from law abiding, mentally stable citizens. The answer lies in restricting access. Some people shouldn't have guns. And for the naysayers, I know, I know, you can k**l with knives, busses, cars and bows and arrows, but so far (thankfully), no ones has used these to crash into a school or grocery store. Plus, auto loaders are illegal for bows and arrows as well as high capacity quivers.
