Leave the persons family out of it.
Insult the persons behavior only.
Physical defects are off the menu.
Use wit and erudition, even I can laugh if someone cleverly ridicules my beliefs.
Making personal insults and name calling just makes you sound like a grumpy toddler unable to come up with a witty riposte.
