An authoritarian regime that ascends to power by denying the results of a free and f**r e******n is not the pathway to improving the economy. Take a look at Russia, North Korea, Myanmar as examples of thriving economies under illegal dictatorships. You could add China to this list of desirable places to live and have a successful life too.

I think the threat to democracy is a primary concern for just about everyone outside the Trump-cult. Economies are in constant flux and the government has very little control over it. Democracy on the other hand, doesn't operate in cycles and it usually takes a bloody revolution to get it. So it's not something we should be throwing away just because we're so desperate to win an e******n.
