A baby in the womb is a very valuable property of the mother. It is reasonable to apply the same penalties to k*****g it as we would to other murders, as there is very great loss to the mother. There is not real value to the fetus for other than the family, so if the fetus is undesired there is no need to give it protection.

Development of human life begins immediately upon fertilization of a woman's egg by a man's sperm. Here's how it happens.....

It's just a matter of time before science and technology make it possible to see without doubt that life begins at the time of conception - fertilization. We're almost there...so far, this is what scientists are seeing now: During the first 24 hours, once the sperm and egg bind to each other, the membranes of these two cells fuse, creating in less than a second a single hybrid cell: the zygote, or one-cell embryo. To protect his or her bodily integrity, within minutes the zygote initiates changes in its ionic composition, releasing zinc in a spark that induces “egg activation,” first modifying the surrounding zona pellucida blocking further sperm binding to the cell surface. Cooperation between sperm and egg components to achieve replication of DNA, cell division, and growth occurs as maternally (mother) and paternally (father) derived factors in the zygote begin interacting with and chemically modifying each other to initiate the final round of meiotic division in the maternally derived nucleus to enable DNA replication.

That is within 24 hours of fertilization....but they're looking at even those 24 hours in an effort to see deeper into the cells and their immediate activity upon that fertilization. It won't be long before this argument about when life begins will be settled by science.

So you see, your "clump of cells" (did you get that from permafrost???) is a stage of development of a human life. Pretty soon you won't be able to argue that.

Folks, I am here taking a moment to weigh in on the a******n issue.

After very careful research, an interviewing two Obstetricians, here are some facts I learned: (1) G****r is determined immediately upon fertilization. The 23rd pair of c********es establishes the sex of the baby. The mother's egg contains an X c********e, while the father's sperm carries either another X or a Y c********e. An XX combination means your baby is female and an XY combination means your baby is male. This means that the baby's g****r is determined before it is even considered a fetus.

(2) Your baby’s heart starts to beat as early as the 5th week (or 22 days) of pregnancy. If you go for an early ultrasound scan, around the 6th week, you will get to hear as well as see the baby’s heart beating. (3) Your baby’s brain development is a complex process that continues throughout your pregnancy. At just six weeks, the embryo’s brain and nervous system begin to develop. (4) At about 7 weeks, the main parts of the eye that enable sight – the cornea, iris, pupil, lens, and retina – start developing, and they're almost fully formed just a few weeks later. By about 10 weeks, your baby has eyelids, though they remain closed until about 27 weeks. (5) Your baby will hear sounds inside your body, like your heartbeat, between 16 and 22 weeks of pregnancy. And after 23 weeks, your little one will be able to make out your voice, your partner's voice, and other sounds from outside your womb. Noises from inside your body muffle the sounds your baby hears, but they can hear your voice more clearly than all others. (5) A new study, "Reconsidering Fetal Pain” confirms that babies in the womb can feel pain as early as 12 weeks old. Writing in the Journal of Medical Ethics, Stuart W.G. Derbyshire John C. Bockmann state:

“Overall, the evidence, and a balanced reading of the evidence, points towards an immediate and reflective pain experience mediated by the developing function of the nervous system as early as 12 weeks.”

Dr. David Prentice, Vice President and Research Director of the Charlotte Lozier Institute commented:

“Unborn babies feel pain. The science has clearly shown for years that unborn children can perceive pain in the womb, but this is a significant admission by doctors on both sides of the a******n debate, recognizing that even early in human development, the unborn can feel pain. And as the authors note, ‘the mere experience of pain…is morally significant.’ Science again points to the humanity of the unborn.”

Now, I ask you, anyone, given these absolute facts, is what has just been described here, a baby human being?

If it isn't, please, in layman's language, tell me what it is, what is it? It is a male or female, has a beating heart (meaning blood is pumping through it), has a brain, has eyes, has ears and can hear, feels pain. What is it?
