Which one person stands taller than the rest should decide who v**es. Nobody. This could be accomplished by consensus of the majority.
It’s called Democracy.
E Pluribus Unum.
Of Many One .

"Out of many, one" maybe some would rather have their Independence.

You mean a Republic. Not a Democracy as a steppingstone to Socialism and C*******m. Read Article IV Section 4 of the Constitution.

Just to be accurate, the united states is a Democratic Republic.. the founders few crazy moves were partly because the considered the population to be very uneducated and uniformed as to needs of the new nation.. So they needed to select other people to actually v**e for them.. Hench the e*******l college..

It should be obvious that todays population is far better educated and better qualified to then past v**ers, that is called progress.. something none of the right wing wants to admit...

And further, even if what you wish was true, Democracy is in no way a stepping stone to C*******m in any way..

Perma delusion t***slation: the American public is now more educated , making it harder for democrats to c***t. "Hench" the solution is to import more uneducated people(i******s)

Correction: the e*******l college was invented to give those under populated states a voice in the union of the United States. So big cities could not over rules the smaller populations.

Yes, you agreed to pay taxes on just about everything including your labor to NGOs. Why, because you agreed to be recognized as a citizen subject to their man-made laws. you are their Debt S***e.
Maybe, just maybe, if you knew your American history you would know of the frauds and deceits your Founding Father bestowed on you.

You don't seem to want to be a part of this discussion. Why not try starting your own rant.

Ri-chard is an example of why it is so hard to have any sort of an intelligent conversation and discuss issues on OPP. Seems to be from another planet.

PeterS then comes up with his usual B. S, There was no i**********n. Stay on topic or please go somewhere else with your rant.

River Reb adds to PeterS's off topic rant with an opposite position. Actually I agree with his position, but that is not the point of this thread.

guzzimaestro. I agree. But that should be part of another discussion. Again, who should be able to v**e. Go into a v****g booth. People.

Milosia2 Almost makes it. Everybody? Would that include someone who raped you and is in prison for life, or someone who murdered your mother and is in prison for life. And they want some doofus who might pardon them. How about someone in a coma or children under five. But you are partially right. "This could be accomplished by
consensus of the majority. It’s called Democracy. That is what this discussion is about. You seem to want everybody. Most will want some reasonable rules and regulations. Then she tries again and is completely off topic.

Ri-chard Again, off topic

Permafrost starts off with some nice information then gets into a rant with
guzzimaestro. and they are back and forth. Stay on topic. This is exactly why I tried to make this opinions and topic specific and no slurs and cheap s**t.

The Senate is going on right now with discussing these very issues. They will go on and on grandstanding, and not change a single v**e in the Senate. Why? Because it is about party and not common sense and what is good for America. Lies will run rampant. Can't we at least try to stay on topic here. The whole question on this thread is simply who should be allowed to v**e in America's e******ns. pecific on topic would be nice.

Eighteen is too young. Most kids that age don't know s**t from shinola. When I was eighteen I v**ed Democrat. That was the last time. I went from high school to college and was properly impressed with how smart my professors were. I ran out of money and enlisted in the Army. After a hitch with Uncle Sam I went back to the same College and was appalled at how clueless these same professors were; not to mention the politicians I had once admired.
When I was a young man, college degrees were called sheepskins. Given a sample of some of the barely literate dickheads graduating today, perhaps they should start calling them foreskins.

Good comment. On topic. Answers a question and shows reasons

Thanks.

The early v****g rights were only granted to those who were property owners. The thought was only those with skin in the game should have a say in how and who should run the government. You are right that progress has been made in allowing all citizens to v**e.
The e*******l collage was put in place not to select other people to v**e for a particular candidate but to allow smaller populated states an equal voice in an e******n. As a country I believe we screwed up when we allowed the 17th amendment to be ratified there by compromising states rights and powers to control the senate. The senate has been reduced to nothing more than a body similar to the house. The founders were a lot smarter than what we as a country have become.
I am reminded of a story about Davy Crockett. The house and senate passed a bill to provide a pension to the widow of a US Navy veteran that had passed away. Crockett was riding threw Tennessee trying to drum up v**es to be reelected and he came across a farmer working in his fields. He asked the farmer if he knew who he was and the farmer said he knew who he was and that he would not v**e for him. Crockett asked him why. The farmer replied that the congress as well as him did not have the right to provide money to the widow as it is not their money to give away, it is to be used only for the functions of the government as defined by the constitution.
The us government is to promote the common good, not to pay for it through law enacted against and outside its enumerated powers.

A picture ID is silly.
The problem is not that people are impersonating anyone. IDs are the least of the problems. It’s the E******n F***d brought on by the Right that is the
#1 problem.
V***r F***d not so much.
They couldn’t find any v***r f***d in the last e******n. Zero.
However , e******n f***d brought on by the whiney b***h baby right is a problem.
That chit only works for 2 year olds. And they usually grow out of it.
Eventually.
