My thoughts are "tough luck" and his death sentence carried out within 30 days.

Free rent, food and medical for the rest of his life, is just as bad as the $1000 bail for running over his girlfriend with the same car he used in his domestic and r****t terrorism.

If we locked up everybody who had a mental illness there wouldn't be a single liberal left to v**e.

I believe he has a mental problem also . One that shouldn't allow him back on the streets. He is a menace to society and should remain locked up for everyone's safety.

Forever! No parole ever. This guy is the reason why some us argue against releasing certain MH diagnosis back into society.

We are all Monsters! Unless you've been diagnosed with a severe mental illness and understand how society treats those unfortunates as less than human you are clueless as to what those unfortunates live with on a daily basis.
A member of my family suffers from co-morbid mental illnesses and he's fortunate to live in a state where there's assistance for those who cannot afford the expenses of psychiatric care without insurance coverage. Often, the only care the mentally ill receive is in jail after they've acted out improperly from their symptoms. Ask any professional in the mental health field and they will confess that the system is indeed broken for those on the outside. B****s in particular are targets for abuse because they don't have the means nor the resources available to them to stabilize their symptoms so they are not dangerous to society.
In a society such as ours we all pay the price of neglect for those unfortunates who fall through the cracks and commit crimes beyond their ability to comprehend or prevent. Doesn't it make sense to provide competent mental healthcare for all in a society so these tragic events can't occur.
Let's write to our Reps and demand equal opportunity for all Americans to receive affordable, competent mental healthcare and avoid more tragedies like Darrel Brooks'.
I urge you all to do some research into our "broken" mental healthcare system before you seek revenge on the real victims of this broken and neglected mental healthcare system that still exists in our society.

Your comment that “B****s in particular are targets for abuse because they don't have the means nor the resources available to them to stabilize their symptoms so they are not dangerous to society.” makes you sound r****t and very judgmental.

Doesn’t Obamacare cover the cost of mental healthcare?

Let’s not discount the fact that some people are just twisted and evil.

I agree a 100% we need to provide treatment for people who have mental illnesses however I also know that there are mentally ill people who will not take their medications on their own they will not take care of themselves on their own and they will not allow other people to take care of them.. Oftentimes they can be a threat to themselves or others. It's my personal opinion and my personal experience that I or nobody else has the right to have my rights/needs met at the expense of somebody else's rights/needs.

Shouldn't his parents or care providers be charged with manslaughter. After all they knew he had a propensity for violence yet vi they allowed him to continue to drive a motor vehicle that he had previously used as a weapon

I don't blame his mom, he will always be her son, but what about his victims?? Like youngest victim, Jackson Sparks who will never grow up, or go to school, have his birthdays, or get married someday...What about his family??? In my opinion he's right where he should be in prison....I hope for life!!

Death penalty for h**e crime!! He definitely had mental illness so he will never get better!!so put him out of his misery or exorcise him! Miracles happen!!

His license revoked and car impounded before he was ever allowed bail.

A vehicle is a deadly weapon as sure as a firearm is and I know had he used a firearm to assault his girlfriend, he wouldn't have had it to shoot at the parade goers.

As far as his parents, yes they should have asked authorities for help.

Brooks is a career criminal and a full grown man and this crime doesn't lay at his family's feet.

I don't buy the mental illness defense, Brooks is just a mean bastard who shouldn't be in society.

I always wonder about the crimes that someone of his lowlife character got away with.

T***h be told, I would say that he should have been locked up for life, for crimes that he got away with in his criminal career.
