Like the common false belief that anyone would k**l under the right circumstances, many claim people can't change: Do you?

It is long established that there are two fundamental drivers of behavior, nature and nurture. Any aspect of nurture is changeable. No aspect of nature is changeable.

So, under the proper circumstances, everyone will k**l because k*****g is natural. Under the right circumstances, everything does it.

Thank you for an actual opinion.

Good. Thank you for an actual opinion on the topic.

Sinister is not the word I would use. But of course it makes sense that you would not get it.

I don't have proof, affidavits and the like, but I have met people that have done 180 in their lives, reversing the spin of their soul from a downward destructive spiral into greater Darkness to one turning for the Light. None are what most people would think of as saints; they still have their flaws. Yet their hearts grew bigger for humanity than their lifelong obsession with self. I had one friend that was about the most foul-mouthed person I ever met but would fall on a grenade in an instant to help another in trouble.

So my answer is yes, I know that people can really and truly change. What about you?

There's a joke that pops up from time-to-time in my 12-Step group ; A woman storms into a meeting, enraged..."My husband was a regular Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde!!" So, what's the problem?, someone asked...
"You sobered-up the WRONG ONE !!"

Of course not. Someone that thinks as highly of himself as he does would never believe that he needs to make any changes. Remember...he is the receiver of several miracles from the gods of health!

Always nasty to me and no comment on the topic. It appears you can't change, hoho.

Of course people can and do change. Your context is that the change is good. I have met people, mostly men who when they were young they were total jackasses. Then when they went out into the world and had to support themselves, they changed into decent people.

I have also met people who went bad. When they were young, you would trust them with your life savings or your family. Then 10 or 20 years later they screw you over financially and you say, what the hell happened to that guy.

Change is only relevant within a context. It is either good or bad.

My premise was that people can change.

I'll tell you what rumitoid is doing in his post means me: I see that he is judging... again. When he says he "knows people can really and truly change" in a post that implies that is a 'good' thing, that is him sitting on his high horse and "approving" that someone else has changed to his imperial liking. Change can be good or bad, and is a personal thing that happens within someone's being. It should never be done to appease someone else's wishes either way.

Oy vey again, you are just totally absorbed in hating me and having no comments--again!--on the thread.

Where do you come up with this crap?

I damn well know that I'll k**l under the right circumstances.
Should I change, and just sit back, and observe harm being perpetrated on myself, or someone I love?
Here in Texas, those who do that are pussies.

People can, and do change all the time.
Some can, and do.
Some can't, and won't change.

Or, are we talking about change that meets your own specific criteria?

To your last question, my premise was simply people can change, how or why and to what is at God's purpose. Your own specific criteria that you will k**l you apply to others who would not as "pussies."

Please tell me where you got it is natural to k**l and nurture having no say.

Maybe "pussies" was the wrong word. How about weak?
Or even animal instinct. We are basically animals, with the same protective instincts as other animals.
We are all made by God.

Why don't you go see if you can convince a mother bear to not k**l a predator who is hurting her cubs?

The world is a brutal place, even in nature, and the strong survive.
