After I retired from teaching about 25 years ago, I ran into a former colleague who told me, just as you are saying, that kids were being literally drugged with prescriptions. I had a kid in my biology class who was constantly disrupting class with attention-getting behavior. One guidance counselor let drop that he was on one of these anti depressants. One afternoon he went home and beat his 10-year old sister to death with a hammer. He got Mom with the hammer and Dad with a kitchen knife. These drugs are useful and help many people live better lives, but they may be overprescribed just as opioids have been. It leaves me wondering why the Feds told the Vermont legislature that they had no authority to control these drugs. "Saturday night specials" didn't scare us into giving up the 2nd amendment 'cause they didn't exist. "Cop K**ler Bullets" didn't either. But mass k*****gs might do the trick.

Not for me. I'll never put my safety and the safety of my family in the hands of the government. It's not a coincidence that just about the first thing every totalitarian government does is outlaw individuals owning personal firearms.

Why are all these politicians talking about Universal background checks we need to implement Universal background checks.
We have had Universal background checks forever and it hasn't made us one bit safer so why do they keep talking about them.?

Done the background check every time I've purchased a gun. Two problems.
ONE, if you're not on the FBI's radar, you pass.
TWO, if you ARE on the FBI's radar and don't pass, you simply walk out the door and get
a gun by some other means, most likely illegally, since you've done something illegal anyway
or you would've passed the background check. What should happen? The guy calls it in
while you're standing there. If you didn't pass, he should quietly call the police so you
can be arrested.

Your paranoia is well founded.

What's that saying again? "If the government says you don't need a gun... you need a gun."
