Ah, so now you’re calling me a liar. Thats pretty funny but not offensive.

You don’t even know what makes a Baptist a Baptist over other denominations.

Another question you need to ask yourself is why God’s word isn’t the
final authority for you.

Nope... Simply highlighting a rather disreputable action that certain individuals seem to thinkers acceptable...

How would you know what I know? Hubris much?

Fine. You have the bible and many reliable sources you have access to. Scholars, commentaries and historical material. You claim you want to learn yet you never show you use these. Just the opposite im fact.

You pick what suits you and ignore what you don’t like - easy believism. This isn’t hard to understand and I expect you already understood it.

Would you prefer that I post articles and videos rather than demonstrate that I am capable of expressing their teachings for myself?

I don't proselytize...

I look at all information and assess its value...

And I pay particular attention to what I don't like...Confirmation bias is prevalent among the best of us...

Disliking something and disbelieving something are not the same thing... I don't dislike any of your beliefs... Not fond of your inability to support them...Nor of your subsequent efforts to dismiss and belittle any information that counters them... But I certainly dont bear them any enmity...

It seems like you may be projecting a bit here...

I’m a Baptist! We believe that the Bible was God’s word conveyed and written by men that was chosen by him! We believe that Jesus was born of a Virgin, Mary, that he is the Son of God. We believe that he was sent to this earth to die on a cross for the sins of mankind, that after 3 days he arose and walked this earth for 40 days and nights and then he ascended to sit beside God the Father. We believe that by believing and repenting of our sins that we receive the Holy Spirit to be our constant guide to assist us for the rest of our life! We believe that this gift of his sacrifice is the greatest of all gifts! We believe that there is one and only one way to God and that is through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior! We believe that Baptism is something that is confirmation of our salvation and that our ‘fruits’ are a result of our faith. That faith gets stronger the more we study and the more we ‘live’ the life that the instructional book that we call THE WORD!!!!!!! The book that is the greatest book ever written and has sold more copies than any other book!

Now! please explain what your problem is with anyone who is a Bible believing Baptist! As I have said many times when Doc used to use BAPTIST as an insult.........I do not define myself as a Baptist, I define myself as a Bible believing Christian who has accepted the free gift of salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior!

And as a side note! When has Rose not been able to back up any of her beliefs as she has stated on this forum? You are the one that seems to sidestep at times!

If this thread is any indication of your experience and maturity of your teaching ability.......perhaps you should go back to ‘teaching’ school or maybe just not act like you are so much more intellectually sophisticated than those who accept the Bible as it is written and not the interpretation of someone who has little knowledge of God’s word! IMHO!

I think the real question is, “How much do you NOT know?”

When was the term Baptist used in a derogatory manner?

Calm down there... There was no insult intended... Unless you have what problem with ducks?

Some of my close friends are Baptists... Decent enough folk...
Most people are...

And Rose has failed several times to clarify her beliefs when asked... Deal with it...

Finally... What makes you think this thread is in any way an example of my teaching ability? This is an open forum for discussions and exchanges... Not a classroom...

One can occasionally learn something if one pays attention...But the odds are against it...

Isn't that always the question?

Unless you decide that knowledge is of no value whatsoever....

I just recalled who you are... Apologies... It's been a while since I have seen you on the forum... And I am not great with names...

Hope that you and your husband have been well... And that you have both settled in nicely... Good to see you again

Let me ask you about belief, a hypothetical. If you had the belief that you could be a rock star and actually accomplished that goal, of what importance is your belief? What Jesus proposed as belief, by my understanding, was just a bridge to living the truth. Once we have really become as "little children" such belief in Christ is no longer necessary. It is being as Christ.

Duplicitous: deceitfulness in speech or conduct, as by speaking or acting in two different ways to different people concerning the same matter; double-dealing.

Patronizing: displaying or indicative of an offensively condescending manner.

We can’t be as Christ in this world.

To be saved you have to admit you’re a sinner, believe that
Jesus died for our sins, rose on the third day and is Lord of all, and you have to call on him.

Romans 10 -
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
