The lib Moran’s should read the story of the Pilgrims and why they almost starved to death. Hint; it was socialism.

Govt funding? You mean Medicaid expansion. That covers the indigent. I did not have choices. Quit talking about what you know absolutely nothing about. I was put in a specific plan based on income. That plan took certain doctors and insurance only. I have a plan that would work but everyone would have skin in the game. Of course liberals would h**e it because they believe everyone owes someone their hard earned money.

You're either completely ignorant or full of it. You had choices. Guess what, the ACA is different for every state go complain to your congressman and quit your whine. Boohoohoo it's all the liberals fault, you guys are a broken record and never take any responsibility for anything, it's all the lefts fault, they're taking all our hard earned money sniff,sniff...gag... yeah right, you wanna look to blame, blame the republican party, who have taken every effort to sabotage the ACA all the while having NOTHING to replace it with...Good Job!!!

Obamacare is an unmitigated disaster, worst healthcare plan ever devised. Sabotage is not good enough, the ACA should be abolished completely. And, after it is gone, the government should stay the hell out of the healthcare business.

A person's health and medical needs are his or her personal concern, an individual or a family should be free to tailor their coverage specific to their own needs.

Democrats Call for Trillion Dollar Tax Hike

Senate Democrats are proposing one trillion dollars in higher taxes over the next ten years including a nearly $600 billion income tax increase, a business tax increase, an increase to the death tax, and a capital gains tax increase.

These proposed tax increases would wipe out the benefits of tax reform, which include larger paychecks, salary bonuses, pay raises, increased employee retirement contributions, and utility rate cuts.

The Senate Democrat plan calls for raising the income tax rate to 39.6 percent and increasing the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) to pre TCJA levels, meaning millions of Americans would have to again pay this tax. According to 2015 IRS data, over 900,000 taxpayers in California and 500,000 taxpayers in New York paid the AMT prior to passage of the TCJA, which dramatically increased the threshold at which this tax applied.

Democrats also propose an $83 billion increase to the death tax. This tax increase would disproportionately fall on family-owned businesses and suppress jobs and wages. 76 percent of Americans support full, permanent repeal of the Death Tax, according to a poll by NPR.

In addition, the proposal calls for increasing the corporate tax to 25 percent. Including state corporate tax rates, this would cause the U.S. rate to rise to 29 percent, above the worldwide average rate of 23 percent and the industrial average of 24 percent.

Finally, Democrats propose a tax increase on carried interest capital gains. A carried interest capital gains tax increase would reduce investment and savings and damage economic growth at a time when the economy is beginning to grow at 3 percent or higher.

Democrats have claimed that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) passed by Republicans in December was irresponsible because it would increase the deficit. Now, they are proposing to undo these tax cuts to finance more wasteful spending, proving they are not truly concerned about the deficit.

Regardless, tax reform is working. The law has resulted in 90 percent of Americans receiving more money in their paycheck and has resulted in at least four million workers receiving bonuses. Millions more have received salary increases, increased retirement benefits, and lower utility costs. The Senate Democrat tax hike proposal would wipe out these benefits.

American workers received more money in their paycheck as a result of the government change in the federal income tax withholding tables. As a tax preparer, the biggest complaint I heard last tax season was the big reduction in tax refunds workers were getting. Some owed additional tax, where they never did before. It was a big surprise to most working families. If the government gets the hell out of the health care business the following could happen: Medicare, Medicade, VA Medical Benefits goes away.
Private for-profit insurance companies can charge any premium they want to anybody they choose. Poor, people, old people, sick people, and people who have ever been sick in their lives will pay more than young healthy people, or they will be left out altogether. The rich folks will be all set. After several years of whining about how bad the ACA is and several attempts to repeal it, we have not yet heard the specifics of a better and cheaper plan from the Republicans.

Some how I don't believe you. It makes sense if they had less withheld they would get less back. Correct? If you really are a tax preparer which I doubt you would know the ACA as written could never survive. Simple math. I work in an office with CPA's. Seems the people they do taxes for (many are middle class) are real happy about the tax cuts. My health insurance was definitely cheaper before the ACA. Many people especially healthy people love the ACA because they are eligible for a sizable subsidy that pays most of their premium. Where they'll h**e it is if they ever get sick and have to pay the deductible which in most cases is astronomical. Both parties have dropped the ball on healthcare. I have a system I believe would work, but hey that's just me.

Some of the ACA money Is used to fund planned parenthood under title X to the tune of $500B, which Trump has just terminated. His elimination of title X will result in the end of many PP clinics whose primary mission was a******n, going bankrupt. Another win for the American taxpayer!

Why should hardworking Americans pay for unwanted pregnancies? Now we simply need to enforce the laws and hold those responsible for these outcome pay child support just like in the good old days before ACA.

Trump told us he had a system that would work. It would be better, cheaper, and cover more people. We are still waiting for the good news about that one. If you have a system you believe would work, share it with your state representative. We all know the ACA can use improvement. Some of my middle class clients did see a small tax reduction as a result of the tax act. Successful self-employed tax payers benefited from the QBI deduction. The wealthy taxpayers, of course, benefited the most.

I did. Haven't heard back except the same old thank you for contacting my office. At least I got that from Rubio's office. Charlie Crist's didn't even send me an acknowledgement. Health care isn't Trumps fault, really wasn't Obamas. Laws come from Congress. They are owned by the Pharma companies and we the people can't compete with the Health Care lobbyists. I think pre-existing conditions should be covered, so let's get that out of the way. I also know the definition of insurance. Once you take away the risk (pre-existing) it is no longer insurance. Imagine the price of car insurance if they had to cover everyone. Answer me this. I am sure you have dealt with a multitude of businesses. Have you ever walked into any business that offers a product but doesn't show you the cost of such product? Even a pawn shop has a price. Not the healthcare industry. What's a colonoscopy cost or an MRI? Never seen a menu in a hospital with prices for procedures. You know why? Because healthcare providers soak the insurance companies who in turn soak the consumer.

Now we are starting to agree. The following solution will require government intervention but it just might work:
I am in favor of the idea of listing prices before we sign up for a medical procedure. While medical services are harder to price out than cars, televisions, hamburgers, air fares, diamond rings etc. we should try to alert medical customers of the cost of each procedure in advance. We should require each medical service provider to hand out to each potential customer a list of services -- from hang nail removal to heart surgery -- along with a price for each procedure. In addition, the list should show the cost each specific insurance company would be willing to pay for each item. Place "Medicare for all" at the end of the list of insurers. In my experience the payment approved by medicare is a fraction of the listed price. Everyone would flock to Medicare which would eliminate the need for health care lobbyists and private insurance companies. It's not perfect, but it's a start.

You should know this already. Medicare for all in a country with this size population will break us. It's just math. I have five doctors in the family. Insurance companies and Healthcare providers have already negotiated the price per procedure an insurance provider will pay. It's all a game and we are the dice. Not many doctors who have spent anywhere from $140,000 to $200,000, per degree, usually in the form of student loans will work for a government paycheck. So Medicare for all would definitely cause less qualified doctors, longer wait times, and less procedures deemed to be needed. If you want to see a model that works as far as paying for medical expenses research Medishare. Presently around 17% of the population is covered by Medicare at a cost of $582 billion dollars a year to the Federal Government. Do the math. Unworkable. Not only will you increase the amount of people by over 5x you will add a significant amount of people who do not pay in to the program. IMO government expansion is not the answer. It would be the death nail. T***sparency, competition, tort reform, and means testing for a separate pool per state for people with pre-existing conditions, IMO once again has great merit.

Health insurance is all about controlling risk. Medishare is not considered insurance by most health care providers. The United States and Bangladesh have something in common. Both lack a universal health care system. Even Russia and China have a standard health care system for its people. Surely the richest country on earth can do better than Bangladesh.

What's their quality of life? The American consumer has much more buying power than the Russia or China consumer. If you have to cover pre-existing conditions you can no longer control risk. Noticed you couldn't dispute my conclusions so you go to an obscure comparison using Bangladesh, Russia, and China. Life expectancy in China is around 76.5 years old. Russia, 71.5, Bangladesh, 72.5 and the U.S. with our horrible healthcare system 80 years. That's with an American diet and an opioid crisis that is not considered all that healthy.

If your conclusion is to allow insurance companies to deny coverage to persons with pre-existing conditions, that would eliminate about half of the persons seeking coverage. Who pays the medical bills for the uncovered population? Only the rich can afford to get sick.
