To be honest, I did not like obama. Yet I did not pick him apart or get stuck on a misuse of a word. I did not like that he divided US citizens, yet I did not feel the need to call him names. I did not like the way he used my tax dollar, yet I did not have a need to condemn those who favored him. I could not listen to his nonscripted speeches, he stammered... the constantly repeating the "IIIIIIIII" just bugged me, but I did not make it a big deal. However, when he read his speeches, I watched him. The most cruel thing I ever said about him is that in my opinion, when historians look at his presidency..... he will be considered one of the worst presidents our nation has ever had. He will stand along side of Carter, Buchanan, and Filmore.

So, all in all.... I think that I use a single standard. First, does the president being considered have the best interest of all our citizens in mind.....second, do all US citizens benefit from spending our tax money..... third, how does that president treat or talk about our military. Pretty simple. Unlike many, I know that the President is not supernatural, not a god, or even better than everyone else..... they are just men who try to do what they think is right. Sometimes they make the right choice.... sometimes they fail......

We do, it's called being objective. The problem is, I don't think it is possible to be objective with this president since he either gives you what you want or he doesn't...there is nothing in between...

Maybe that's because what he wants for this Country isn't what you want for this Country. Frankly I think I'll go with what he wants, it's worked out pretty well so far.

Obama didn't divide citizens. Conservative separation was purely voluntary and occurred from day one. It was like McConnell's decision, and only 2 weeks in, in the middle of a deep recession, to work to make Obama a 1 term president. As you said, IS there consideration for the best interest of ALL citizens. Conservative actions are purely for ONLY those with a conservative ideology. It's like denying Obama his constitutional right to nominate and have his nomination v**ed on by the Senate for the Supreme Court.

Conservatives have decided this country is going to go backward and there is no v****g on this. No debate whether this action is for the common good. Pollution laws governing our air and water quality GONE. Not one chance for debate and you cons applaud this action. You live in the countryside of Virginia--one of the most beautiful area's in the nation--and it is now legal for coal companies to dump their waste containing heavy metals in your rivers and streams. Virginians drink that water, eat fish from those rivers and streams, and you had no chance to decide if that is what you wanted. Common good doesn't exist if you are a conservative.

And no, Trump will stand purely by himself. Presidents before him would admit that they gaffed a line. T***p w*n't. Trump says he 1) didn't need a teleprompter like past presidents and 2) couldn't read the teleprompter because of the rain.

The one positive is that it is clear that Trump wrote his own speech because only he would believe that there were airports in 1776 brave soldiers had to storm. Just admit you made a mistake and move on. Trump can't do that which is why he will stand all by himself.

The division is on your side. You rejected Obama. You elected Trump. You cons are the reason why this country is soooo fuked up...

It also isn't what the majority want for this country. Right-wing conservatives account for only 35% of the population. Yes, you will go with what he wants but what he wants isn't what is best for the country...

Well, I guess we'll just have to disagree with what's good for this Country. I know that what the Democrats have done to this Country over the past 8 years is certainly not good for us. In reading your writing above, I conclude that you are so far out of the realm of reason that it will be nearly impossible to resurrect you. It is pure BS.

Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” (reality, 12 people were k**led by a tornado). And then there are issues with how many states we have.... “I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.” And some had problems separating the quick from the dead, "Fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today." Speaking of slips of the tongue, how about our president that saluted Princess Diana as “Princess David.” This is the same guy who said: "We are trying to get unemployment to go up, and I think we’re going to succeed." Perhaps not a slip of the tongue but precognitive warning. More than one gaffe has sent the world close to war. President Reagan was asked to say something to do a soundcheck. He remained quiet for a few moments, then not realizing that the microphone was now on and recording he joked “My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” Information about the recording (though the recording itself was not aired) was later released, causing an alert to be triggered in the USSR. President Carter once had such a bad t***slation of his speech that caused the world to scratch their collective heads "President of the United States had “left America never to return.”

Life happens, most of the time it gives us an opportunity to see the President of the USA as a real human, who like many on OPP gets things wrong and sometimes... not so wrong “The Middle East is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries.” Sometimes we say things that we have no idea of what it means: Who could forget June 11, 2001 — Bush appeared on Spanish television and said “It is a great honor to travel to Spain and visit the King and also Prime Minister Anzar. But I have to practice the very pretty language, and unless I practice I am going to destroy this language.” He had in fact mispronounced the name of the Prime Minister, José María Aznar. He called him ansar, a Spanish word for “goose." At times the gaffe has at the heart an ounce of t***h, “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful—and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people—and neither do we.”

If you want a "perfect" president..... perhaps we should consider electing a computer to the office. But, then we would have a problem with it sitting on an heirloom desk!
