Tired of President Trump's Civil War Airport?

I have lived through a few administrations and ALL Presidents has a gaffe and faux pas at one time or another. From President Trump's Civil War airport to a president while attempting to enter the Oval Office, chooses to use a window for the door. We have listened to them talk about tragedy, “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” (reality, 12 people were k**led by a tornado). And then there are issues with how many states we have.... “I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.” And some had problems separating the quick from the dead, "Fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today." Speaking of slips of the tongue, how about our president that saluted Princess Diana as “Princess David.” This is the same guy who said: "We are trying to get unemployment to go up, and I think we’re going to succeed." Perhaps not a slip of the tongue but precognitive warning. More than one gaffe has sent the world close to war. President Reagan was asked to say something to do a soundcheck. He remained quiet for a few moments, then not realizing that the microphone was now on and recording he joked “My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” Information about the recording (though the recording itself was not aired) was later released, causing an alert to be triggered in the USSR. President Carter once had such a bad t***slation of his speech that caused the world to scratch their collective heads "President of the United States had “left America never to return.”

Life happens, most of the time it gives us an opportunity to see the President of the USA as a real human, who like many on OPP gets things wrong and sometimes... not so wrong “The Middle East is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries.” Sometimes we say things that we have no idea of what it means: Who could forget June 11, 2001 — Bush appeared on Spanish television and said “It is a great honor to travel to Spain and visit the King and also Prime Minister Anzar. But I have to practice the very pretty language, and unless I practice I am going to destroy this language.” He had in fact mispronounced the name of the Prime Minister, José María Aznar. He called him ansar, a Spanish word for “goose." At times the gaffe has at the heart an ounce of t***h, “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful—and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people—and neither do we.”

If you want a "perfect" president..... perhaps we should consider electing a computer to the office. But, then we would have a problem with it sitting on an heirloom desk!

A fair and honest assessment, Penny. Gaffes are common, especially among politicians.

What's truly remarkable, is that if you like the President, they can do no wrong, but if you don't...................... If we could just have one set of standards for everyone, we'd be a far less confusing people.
