What really gets me is the boys at Gitmo want nothing, they need nothing yet service people go on waiting list, a secret waiting list. The prisoners are treated better.

Right now, today, Congress could authorize the VA to issue vouchers to allow Vets to get the help they need at private hospitals, until this is sorted out. But Harry Reid thinks that a debate about the Washington fucking Redskins name being offensive is more important; after which our hardworking Congressmen will take yet another taxpayer funded vacation. They aren't much different from Michelle Obama, are they?

I agree. That is disheartening, assuming it's true. :hunf: And, I have no reason to believe it isn't...in terms of medical care.

They also have a brand new, (2 years ago), $750,000 soccer field, among other accoutrement's.

I did not know that, Salty. :? Only film I've seen of them playing at soccer was in a small enclosed (fence) area. It has been a while, to my memory, since viewing that.

I would think a panoramic view of the Caribbean enough. 8-)

On Memorial Day, I will be at the wall. If any of you have a section you wish a flower to be placed at the base, please let me know which section. I will be purchasing flowers on Saturday. If there is a particular name you wish to honor, I will attach a tag to the flower naming that individual for you.

I'm sorry you have to go there. You are doing a nice thing.

It is hard for AuntiE, but she goes with the highest regard for Viet Nam Veterans... to honor them. As one, I have the greatest admiration for her doing so. I wish could share the experience with the Lady.

I would be honored to accompany her if it were possible for me to do so.

I only have a little bit. Does she go alone?

I can't speak with absolute certainty, but I believe she may be joined by some family. It is still hard on her... both physically and emotionally, IMHO. Her annual journey is a loving homage to Viet Nam Vets.

I have been to the D.C. Wall myself, years ago, and it was a powerful experience. In a visit near Austin to see the traveling Wall, I ran across a nurse who cared for troops on the U.S.S. Sanctuary hospital ship at the same time I was recovering on it...she had worn her cap identifyng her as a nurse from the ship and her time on it. Seeing the cap, I simply walked up, embraced her and said "Thank you." We immediately broke down in tears upon our 'reunion'. Her first words to me were "I came here hoping to see one of 'my' boys." We held onto each other for what seemed an eternity. It proved to be one of the most powerful moments in my life. The tragedy of the meeting was that neither of us thought to ask for the other's phone number or address...we were too caught up in our emotions. I can't explain otherwise how that opportunity slipped by us.

I believe, in my heart, AuntiE has strong emotional ties to the Wall. If I could, I would embrace her just as warmly as 'my' nurse.

I know with a great degree of certainty, Salty, that AuntiE would be as honored to go with you!

As would I.

One is never alone at The Wall, most especially on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

I have never been to The Wall; not enough of the fallen are there. Yet to honor those that were directly k**led in combat is good. Yet we need to remember that between every name listed, there may be another twenty causalities stateside. And we should not forget the North Vietnamese that died almost ten to one for our losses in that country.

You would have the unmitigated gall to set in your desert airy and provide advice to me on Memorial Day. You had best admire my restraint at this time. :!:

I have never been to the Wall. I have been to Arlington. I was not alone there; I was surrounded by brothers.
