Conservatism is the hierarchical domination of society by an aristocracy. Conservatism is as old as civilization and there have always been people who have tried to constitute themselves as an aristocracy, or dominator hierarchy. These people and their allies are the conservatives. Conservatism in every place and time is founded on deception. Their arguments and facallcies have changed little through history. R****m, misogyny and sexism, homophobia, t***sphobia, xenophobia, bullying, religious intolerance, subjugating, discriminating against, unkindness or uncaring toward someone for things they cannot control... all of these arise from the Dominator Hierarchy and serve to perpetuate it. An Ideaology that clings to the past and desires to preserve the past is backward. Liberal progressives seek change. conservatives oppose change

This is your ideology speaking, Nik, nothing but progressive propaganda.

"Liberal progressives seek change."

Yes, they do. But it is the change they are seeking that presents our beloved nation with a serious problem.

"conservatives oppose change."

No, they do not. The biggest change we seek right now is to eradicate liberal progressivism, to end its erosion of our morals and its destruction of our society, our culture, our system of law, our constitution. What a magnificent change we would see if liberal progressivism and its grandpappy C*******m simply vanished from the face of the earth.

Right eradicate liberal progressive-ism and conserve tradition We thought after the great depression of the 1930’s the government and economics profession thought that we had figured out to make sure this kind of catastrophe doesn’t happen again. We passed the banking act, we set up Social Security, we developed the council of economic advisors a little bit later to advise the President ,we thought we had mastered Keynesian economics so we could do physical and monetary policy properly and it all came crashing down with the collapse of 2008.

40 years of movement conservatism has peeled most the gains away like one would peel an onion. Reaganism has wiped out most of the middle class. All that's left of the 1933 Glass Stegall Act is FDIC. Movement conservatism has d**gged the nation back to a new gilded age, and the 1920's, of wealth ine******y and extreme polarization between the right and the embattled left.

An aristocracy needs a strong central government to enforce their authority. A prime example is Tsarist Russia. While American conservatives are in favor of small central government and a free market economy. Domination also suppresses a free market.

I was always taught to don't or never question certain things,in the process you will lose your sanity trying answer or decipher certain things.

How about you do ask yourself a question and do an experiment. Take fresh meat, seal it in an air tight bag, and set it out to rot. Do you or do you not get Knats? Easy test. I was taught to question everything. I question what the "certain things" are that should not be questioned.

There has never been a free market in this country Wealth and politics have a long history of intense interaction in the United States. Conservative politics and ideology, with mostly Republican presidents but even Democratic presidents in these eras - Grover Cleveland, Bill Clinton-tend to be economically conservative.

Franklin D. Roosevelt, after the success of his 1933 speech excoriating "the unscrupulous money-changers" who "stand indicted in the courts of public opinion, rejected by the minds and hearts of men," took up related themes through the 1936 e******ns. New Deal Democrats had passed the Glass-Steagall Act to separate the ownership of banks and investment firms in order to decouple bank profits and lending patterns from the stock market. The Securities Exchange Act, in turn, prohibited stock market pools, insider trading, and market manipulations while creating a new Securities and Exchange Commission to police the markets. The Federal Reserve Act was amended to give the board power to curb margin loans and confine the purchase of U.S. government securities by the regional Federal Reserve banks to what was needed for their performance of open-market operations.

Corruption, like larceny, comes in many forms, some blatant, others more subtle. Booms, speculative heydays, and other periods of money worship bring the highest ratios of both corruptions, the hard and the soft. It stands to reason that bribery, embezzlement, fraud, swindling, and other "hard"-criminal-forms of avarice rise with the heat of soaring stock indexes, market worship, and the glorification of consumption and gain. The 1980s and 1990s saw political and governmental corruption in the United States recapture the laxity of the Gilded Age and Roaring Twenties. In the late twentieth century, however, venality was also endemic among the other Group of Seven industrial nations-Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Canada, and Britain-a moral convergence to match the contagion of market-driven philosophy.

Thanks for this article, at 77 years of age and nearing the end I've struggled with the notion of God since my Catholic religion classes as a teen. The priests & nuns could never offer a satisfactory answer to my questions, always falling back on "you must have faith". But your arguments also fail to answer the basic question, "If you can't get something from nothing, where did God come from?" Also, the fact that Jesus just happened to appear at a time in history when there was no audio or video to document his actions to me is suspect, as is the Bible. I understand that it was written some 300 years after the death of Jesus and since much was t***slated and 'word of mouth accounts' how can we assume it's accuracy since people tend to embellish stories when passed from one to the next? I really wish I could 'have faith' but it seems every attempt to explain God only leads to more questions. IF there is a God I sure hope He has a sense of humor the day I show up.

Agnostic I think is the form of belief that allows us to cover our bets. Most religions say that you are going to Hell if you are an agnostic. As for the Bible being the end all be all, I have my concerns. When I was searching for a religion that matched my faith, I read about the se******ns of the books that were allowed in the Bible. MEN decided which would go in and which would not go in. These were the ENLIGHTENED men of the time. These were the men who were guided by the spirit of God. They were far more religious and knowledgeable and moved by the spirit THAN those who wrote the books.... OR ... They had an agenda.

So with jaundiced eyes I searched my soul. The Bible is very good at telling moral stories and relating some historical facts. I take what fits my belief and reject what does not. I reject the 6 days. I reject most dogma. I will not follow blindly any command to follow, ie "Follow ME! My religion is the only way to get to heaven." BS! I will not drink your Kool-Aid. God is all loving. God gave us minds to THINK with. Though his Grace, he will take care of me no matter what someone else says. God gave us the ability to learn, to study, to discover, to try to find his t***h. We can just believe... no harm no foul, or we can question... again, no harm no foul.

And perhaps it is not God's plan that we know everything in our worldly form. Maybe we only get to know the answers to "evolution", what about the Big Bang, Did it really only take you 6 24 hour days, AFTER we pass on.

Your very first sentence indicates a big misconception. Only people with no science understanding would claim science proves evolution is a fact. Science is not about proving anything, but about disproving. Here is a synopses of how science works:
1) You observe and collect evidence and facts.
2) Based on the above you conceive a hypothesis.
3) You conduct experiments or studies to attempt to disprove your hypothesis.
4) If you fail to disprove it you share your results with others.
5) Other scientists set up experiments or studies to try and disprove your hypothesis.
6) If enough people and attempts fail and no one manages to disprove it, it might become a theory.
*** A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can be repeatedly tested and verified in accordance with the scientific method, using accepted protocols of observation, measurement, and evaluation of results. Where possible, theories are tested under controlled conditions in an experiment. ***
Evolution has reached such a state and is considered a THEORY. Other well accepted theories include the theory of gravity. The theory of oxygen combustion. The theory of plate tectonics. Theory of general relativity. Quantum theory.

The big bang theory is not part of the theory of evolution. It is a theory used primarily in cosmology and astrophysics.

The question of where or how life began is not part of the theory of evolution. If you've read it in a book on evolution, the book must not have been a serious science book.

Never heard that intelligence can only arise from intelligence. In fact, the words make so sense as what is it arising out of if it already is? But the information theory has nothing to do with evolution, nor is it about biological intelligence. "Information theory studies the quantification, storage, and communication of information. It was originally proposed by Claude Shannon in 1948 to find fundamental limits on signal processing and communication operations such as data compression, in a landmark paper entitled "A Mathematical Theory of Communication"."

The theory of evolution is not a theory to answer deep religious, philosophical, or existential questions. It simply is a theory that a species can change over time until the offspring are no longer of the original species and no longer reproduce fertile offspring. That it!

Hey Rose,

Have you ever been amazed at seeing a cat land on all fours when it seemed almost impossible to do so?

I'm sure that cats don't have a clue about the human definition of the word "gravity".

Now, since "gravity," like the word "science," is a "human construct," would that mean the cat was free from the law of gravity and that its reflex action was purely an instinct? Or would/could we say that the cat, instinctively operates within the law of gravity? The latter, right?

Good experiment (maybe cruel though). Drop a cat in zero G. What will it do? Possibly go insane.
