Yep... We rarely make it past the thirty minute mark.... Was very disappointed by 'Ender's Game'... Waited decades for them to realize the potential of the story... Big fail in my opinion...

Would love to see a Ringworld movie.. But hope they put proper effort into it...
Sounds like you've got the same problem we do. We've read the books and coupled with the proper kind of imagination most movies don't measure up. We've learned to keep expectations lowered. But every once in a while we find that diamond in the manure pile. We were ok with Enders Game because we weren't expecting much. Sigh...

That's what my wife said...
She enjoyed it for what it was...

I went on a one week sulk when 'The Dark Tower' came out... And the new 'IT'... Sad...

Curious about your take on:
Inception
5th Element
Edge of Tomorrow
Children of Men
Minority Report
Avatar
12 Monkeys
District 9
A. I. (Haley Joel Osmund)
I've got more and no need to comment on each. Maybe 1 or 2 you thought measured up or disappointed. Any others you thought awesome?

I have not seen a good movie since Lonesome Dove. I wish the Westerns would make a comeback. That is television that I enjoy

I'm with you on that Tom. Anything with Duvall, Selleck, J.Wayne, etc. Mike Forgot Jerimiah Johnson with Redford. Mike

I enjoyed 'children of men'... The acting wasn't great, but the story was interesting...

'Fifth Element' has always been a favorite... It is easy to enjoy... And doesn't take itself too seriously...

Avatar sucked... Sci-fi version of Pocahontas...Weaver was good in it... She usually is..

I was excited about District 9... the premise was good... But I didn't really connect with it... A little goofy...

12 monkeys is one of my wife's favorites... I enjoyed it because it kept me guessing...

Didn't care for 'minority report' or 'inception'...

Haven't seen 'Edge of Tomorrow'... Will be downloading that... Any good?

AI I liked... The old and the new...

I grew up on Gunsmoke -Dead or alive--Bat Masterson--Have gun will travel--Roy Rogers -Sky King --Maverick and etc. I still love those shows. My wife watches Project Runway so that's when I leave the room lol

Obviously I am older than you. We did not have television until I was almost through with high school (rural area). But these shows were what my children grew up with, so I did too. Loved them all. Most of them also taught good lessons without making any issue of it. The good guys always won.

The town that I lived in did not have a TV station until the summer of 1958. An old man in our nieghborhood put up a 50' tall antenea and some older kids convinced us younger ones that at dark TV would come out of the sky like at the drive in. Well you know how that turned out. Later that summer the same man got a TV and every person in our nieghborhood went to his house to see it. I remember sitting on the floor with a bunch of other kids and we were watching The Greatest Show on Earth. And that man was beaming with p***e.

You'd have to like "open range", my favorite scene was when Costner asked who broke the boy's arm

I also liked when, just before the big shoot-out near the end of the movie, where Costner's character asked to know Duval's character's last name.

Hi... I'm Kyle...

I don't watch much TV (Except GoT...My wife has me hooked) , but once a week I do movie night with my wife... Usually she chooses... In the past month she has stumbled upon two gems...

The first was "Instant Family"...
Not sure who starred in it... But it was an excellent script... And it ran me through the full range of emotions... Joy, humor, anger, sadness, despair, hope, indignation, vengeful wrath... And quite a few others.... I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys movies without a lot of guns, explosions, sexuality, or fart jokes.... Two thumb up from me

The second was "The Circle"...
It starred that girl from the Harry Potter films...
It involves the way large corporations like Facebook or Google are influencing our society... And how they operate...The script wasn't as good as it could have been... But I still enjoyed it... Only one thumb up

My wife and I have really begun to despair at the quality of movies coming out these past few years... We have even cancelled movie night a time or two.... And often fail to finish the movies we start...

So what are your favorites?
And have you watched any gems lately?

'Bohemian Rhapsody' was entertaining.

'Unplanned' was kind of depressing; but it needed to be watched.

Excuse me;
I just noticed you were asking about TV.

I miss the old sitcms like
The Jackie Gleason Show
The Beaver
My Three Sons
The Life of Riley
