Makes sense. I’m sure you’ve heard the stories of guys driving their rider mowers to the bar, to avoid DUI’s on the ride back home. People can be imaginative when they want to avoid something, lol.

Here is what I found on it, it is for the state of Iowa, a heavily agricultural state:

"Question: What is the definition of a "farm vehicle driver"?

A farm vehicle driver is a person who drives only a commercial motor vehicle that is controlled and operated by a farmer as a private motor carrier of property; and is being used to t***sport either agricultural products, farm machinery or farm supplies to or from a farm; and is not be using in the operation of a for-hire motor carrier; and is not carrying hazardous materials of a type and quantity that requires the commercial motor carrier to be placarded; and is being used within 150 air-miles of the farmer's farm."

It does appear as though they can drive ANY vehicle as long as it is for farm business and within 150 miles (as the crow flies) from the farm.

I think you hit on something big, lindajoy. Civic classes as prominent and central to every level of education. Yet of greater depth and reach, exploring the whole facet of our responsibility to uphold the Constitution and how to act as an active citizen of democracy, while also learning about immigration and the rule of law. History of the United States in details about all the struggles for liberty. No one gets to HS without passing a basic Civics test.

Yet there are exceptions or different laws in different states..

A Driver's License is not required to drive a farm tractor or self-propelled implement of husbandry along a highway, but you must be at least 16 years old. Children under 16 can only drive farm vehicles directly across a highway...

Also a DOT number is a Department of T***sportation number that is required for commercial vehicles. ... Some states don't require you to get a DOT number for farm trucks so check your state requirements...Just as some require a license plate and a trailer plate if you are t***sporting additional items” in tote...Some states do not require them...

You really have to look at the state you reside in as they are diversified not falling under any Federal requlation Unless t***sporting hazardous materials, that’s a different ball game..

Thank You, rumi.. I whole heartedly agree with you...Why civics was ever eliminated is beyond me and as we see now or in the last three Decades at least it has lost out to Social Studies or American history not near in depth in true teaching..

I believe A certain state just recently adopted a bill, can you imagine having to write a bill, where civics, Constitution will be brought back into the classes.. I remember reading it and thinking finally!

This speaks of what you said and I believe it should be required in high school snd first year college entrance!!

If you graduated from a four-year college in South Carolina and didn’t take a class on the U.S. Constitution, your degree is worthless, according to state law.

That law, which has been in place for decades, hasn’t been enforced, and many colleges aren’t following it. But some S.C. lawmakers want to change that.

The REACH Act, sponsored by Sen. Larry G***ms, R-Berkeley, would require all college students receiving a bachelor’s degree or higher to complete three credit hours of a class that includes reading and studying the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Federalist Papers. An amendment to the law, proposed by Sen. Floyd Nicholson, D-Greenwood, would also require that class to include the Emancipation Proclamation and how s***ery relates to the constitution.

The law would not apply to two-year colleges and technical schools....

There’s been talk of lowering the v****g age to 16. For me, this is preposterous. 16 year olds should be concerned about graduation and prom, they, for the most part, have little if any life experience, and have a long way to go in terms of gaining knowledge.

I think v****g for the President and Vice President, the age should be raised to 35. After all, it is the required age to hold such office....

Change my mind.

C.C. I agree with you, and have often said we all should take a test and pass it!

That's exactly the concept that keeps the Dems in power...."give me free stuff, and I'll v**e for you". Except that the "free stuff" is paid for by tax-payers, not the politicians.

Kind of like Congress v****g for their own pay raises...doesn't make sense!
Kind of like Congress v****g to exempt themselves from bad legislation.
Kind of like politicians legally accepting bribes from lobbyists to v**e a certain way.
