Actually... As earlier stated I would make exemptions for military and law enforcement...

If one is too irresponsible to make the correct decisions in regards to who should run our government, then they are too irresponsible to be trusted to make the correct decisions as to whether they should join the military or law enforcement. We should not allow them to join either profession if they aren't responsible enough to be trusted with a b****t.

I was wondering how old you were - you have well thought out posts. That makes it more interesting you would propose this. I’m going to ask some friends what they think. We all think 16 is to young for a drivers license

Thanks for that, Rose, very kind. I also think 16 is too young for a DL. I remember reading years ago, I think it was Florida, had a DL age of 14! I don’t know if that’s true anymore, but the reasoning behind it was for driving farm equipment, that kind of made sense. Now that I think of it, it may have only been for farming equipment. It’s funny how states vary though.... I didn’t get my DL until almost 20. Never really needed it...

There’s been talk of lowering the v****g age to 16. For me, this is preposterous. 16 year olds should be concerned about graduation and prom, they, for the most part, have little if any life experience, and have a long way to go in terms of gaining knowledge.

I think v****g for the President and Vice President, the age should be raised to 35. After all, it is the required age to hold such office....

Change my mind.

I wouldn’t change a thing about you or your mind!!!

A drivers license isn't required for driving farm machinery, that is unless they have changed that in recent years.

Thank you! And well said!

PennyLynn has something similar in her “signature line” - can’t remember exactly, but it is very true also.

I have no problem with even 12 year olds driving farm equipment. Their parents aren’t going to do that on a whim. I’ve seen a 12 year old drive a tractor quite well. He didn’t have a license but that was never enforced on farms.

I must be mistaken then... but don’t they sometimes need to drive tractors and such over the road?

Yeah I wouldn’t think so either.... there’s probably a few old time farmers on OPP that have driven tractors as young as 7 or 8.

Interestingly enough, I have heard that they can drive ANY farm vehicle without a license, ostensibly only for farm duties I would think.

Makes sense. I’m sure you’ve heard the stories of guys driving their rider mowers to the bar, to avoid DUI’s on the ride back home. People can be imaginative when they want to avoid something, lol.

I drove a Cat and a Skidder at the age of twelve... My father was a logger.. Took me out on the weekends.. Good times...

There aee provinces in Canada that allow 14 Year olds to attain licenses... also for farming..
Most of the farm boys I grew up with were taught to drive as soon as their legs were long enough...

Responsibility is taught and learned younger on the farms...

There was a time when the primary reasons our Nation’taught civics etc., was to prepare our youth to be active participants in our system of self-government.... The responsibilities of each citizen (true citizen) were assumed to go far beyond justvcasting a v**e... Blind devotion to the state or its leaders would never be enough. Nor is it now or perhaps that's especially now.. Rather, being American was something to be learned and carried out...

Now the Constitution is trampled on every chance they can and the majority of our “ school learned students” couldn’t begin to tell you why or what it means to this great Nation of ours...
