I like the Canuck just fine. He reminds me how Americans used to be before all the conservative vs liberal crap happened.

I'm learning Tom. My son is a conservative savage, but he knows how, and when to say FU. Us old schoolers can learn from the new ones. The ones with brains, anyway. Both sides. And, why do we have to have sides anyway?

The Air Force travels over water faster, and they they don't have to waller in mud.
But then.....they might fall out of the sky, and hit the ground real hard.

Exactly, Arch I'm a Marine because I prefer terra firma. Besides a fear of large bodies of water...no bigger than a bathtub...I have an innate fear of heights. Thus, flying and airplanes are also out'ta the question.

I'll take my chances in the grime and grit of mud.

I think we're on the same page here Slats.
Although I enjoy a swimming pool, large bodies of water are out!
I h**e the flying tube, I mean, H**E it!!
I'll only mount one if someone is about to die, and I need to get there. If they already died, I'll be there tomorrow.

Nah, Rose...just that, with his fear/distrust of flying, Arch isn't cut out for it.

I was on a DC 9 when it iced up and they lowered the masks and prepared us to crash.

We had just completed basic training and there were over 200 of us headed for Tech school at Chanute AFB in Illinois. It was 1972 and a record cold winter. The plane iced up and the engines were coming on then off. You only heard --Whooosh-- then one or two would come back on. They lowered the masks and put us through the drill.. We circled the Saint Louis airport for over an hour --Woosh-- sputter -- . When we finally landed they had to bust the ice off the door with baseball bats to get us off the plane. There must have been a 4inch crust of ice on that plane. Every snowplow in Missouri had come to plow the runway for us.
