Is the chit chat section not for our amusement and relief from politically charged topics? Should it not be a troll free zone and a sanctuary from those with an axe to grind?

Sort of a safe space?

From another angle:

The chit-chat session says it is for “non-political talk”. If one person claims a topic is “political” but someone else expressly wants to “talk” about something in a “non-political” way, or, in other words, that first someone wants to make a “non-political” topic like “life” political, does that ipso facto relegate that topic (“ie “life”) unconditionally into a subcategory of “political”?

Isn’t that a form of suppression of free speech and mind control?

Yes, it should be. But, in a free society, expressing oneself is a right most exercise with vigor & passion. It is inevitable that the 'chit-chat' section turns political, regardless of its intended purpose. C'est la vie.

And a different angle. lol

Is it suppression? Is the forum owner not free to set the rules for different sections? If there is already a free-for-all section why is another one needed?

You miss the point. Is “life” only “political”?

In a sense, yes. Theoretically, at least, a place where all can share our commonalities...apart from the often bitter rancor of politics and/or religion.

I see your point and freedom of speech is something worth fighting for. You don't have to like what someone has to say but they do have rights. I do believe however in a time and a place as is scriptual

I can appreciate your point, that's more evidence that we "need" a "free for all".. "knock down"... "loser leave town section".

It is a subject that has been very politicized. Churches even urge their members to v**e against certain candidates because of it. I am a certified foster parent and I have seen too many dirty neglected and mentally ill children. The same people who rail against a******n also rail against the food stamp program-Housing-- energy assistance --family planning--birth control--or anything that benefits the poor. I hear the lies about I*****l a***ns getting welfare and the justifications for separation of children from immigrant familys. It seems like being pro birth does not extend beyond that.
