I've read your posts and, feel comfortable enough to state a couple of observations that I've made regarding your beliefs. You have faith in a higher power than yourself, which drives your thinking and actions. That's a great start! The fact that you don't know about Christianity is of little consequence right now, in fact, welcome to ground zero. That higher power you mention, is what God has placed in you to hunger after knowledge about him. Please forgive me for quoting God's word to you, but I can't make this point with my own words more clearly so here goes, from the Apostle Paul in Acts:

Paul Before the Areopagus (A hill to the to the west of the Athenian acropolis where met the highest governmental council of ancient Athens and later a judicial court)

"22So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. 23"For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.' Therefore what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. 24"The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;…"

You & I worship and/or believe in the same God SW, the only God there is. Jesus Christ was God made flesh who was foretold about in the Old Testament of the bible and, His ministry here on earth tells about how God reconciled himself to mankind as told in the New Testament of the bible. That's Christianity in a nutshell and, now you know. Jesus was a prophet, that is true. Do you know the definition of that word? Prophet is an authoritative person who divines the future. You sure know a lot more about Christianity then you first let on. In fact, your knowlege of God surpasses a lot of people I know who proclaim they know Him.

Since I am not Christian, I have been asked what I believe. The foundation of my faith is found in the following:

Courage- exhibit courage in all forms. esp standing up for what you believe to be right regardless of obstacles and opposition.

T***h- be honest with all people even yourself. Try to never lie even if lying is easier.

Honor- hold true to your word. Keep all promises, act on your convictions.

Troth- loyalty Be true to your God, yourself, your family, and your friends.

Self discipline- Rule your actions by the strength of your convictions.

Hospitality- Always be generous with your God, your family, your friends and your fellow man. Share your gifts, your protection, your loyalty, and your possessions .

Industriousness- work with dedication and commitment. Don't be half- hearted in your efforts.

Self Reliance- Trust in yourself and your own resources. Rely upon others as rarely as you can.

Perseverance- Be stubborn. don't give up until you have accomplished what you set out to do and have accomplished it well.

I don't always live up to these virtues but I try.

I am a born again Bible believing Christian that was bought and paid for by the blood of my Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner saved by grace and I am waiting on the eminent return of my Savior to set up his kingdom and to bring with him a new heaven and a new earth. I also look forward to being reunited with those who have gone before and who the Lord will bring with Him on that great and notable day of the Lord.

Isn't it great bahmer, that we live in a country where you can believe anything you want? Of course, there are those of us who aren't much interested in mere believing, but prefer to know things. Because you have accepted Jesus teaching about loving your neighbor, I guess you'll just have to put up with us.

With all due respect . . .

I think you pretty well nailed it. I'd substitute the word, "honesty," for, "t***h," though they're virtually indistinguishable. I've learned that if I always tell the t***h, I don't have to remember what I said.

There are many paths to God....or wh**ever you consider to be "God".

I, as a child...3 years old....and understanding gravity, knew there couldn't be an old guy up there on an alabaster throne....just didn't wash. I believe, since you asked, that the term or name "God" is what we have chosen to use applicable to the laws of the universe. Humanity just likes to "personalize" this, I feel....to, for a sense of comfort and security, to project human qualities.

I "tried" religion for decades, and then just gave it up with all the form, dogma, condemnation, judgment, etc....and went with the purity of spirituality.

I study daily ACIM...and other books on the subject.....and live my life to the best of my ability to be in alignment with what is right in regard to all things....as I believe we are ALL part of one, connected, and any and all things effect everything else....you know...."Do unto others..."
I KNOW there is "something" there that I call "God"....and I also feel there's this extension running around called "The Holy Spirit". And, I feel Christ, in Jesus, was the truest personification of "God" on earth. I don't have this down pat, my friend. But, I KNOW in my heart He, It, They...are part of me....and that my purpose is to be the best representative of Them I can on earth.
But, it's not always easy, and sometimes I fail.

Life is like..."The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But, I have promises to keep.....

And, though tarrying in some aspects of the "dark and deep" in life might be pleasurable, the "business" of the "promises to keep" is my agenda.....and that seems to align well with what you believe.

I wish you well. I wish you happiness...and joy. May you live in peace. Namaste, my friend.

God doesn't punish us, O Not So Great But Highly Delusional One.

It's the law of the universe.....cause and effect....as ye sow, so shall ye reap....what ya put out ya get back....

Ya do a stupid or illegal thing.......ya get your just desserts.........

God didn't steal that car....the individual did....or rob that bank or rape that woman....the individual did.

Ya try to walk across a flash flooding ravine....your ass is gonna get washed away....and God did not do it. YOU did.

When man takes personal responsibility and stops blaming God for everything negative, mankind will have made great progress.

This an open forum, isn't it? At least you seem to contribute quite often...and usually unasked for comments.

Just thought I'd give a logical and since the beginning of time explanation......when you d**g you knuckles on the ground, they are going to be sore and have abrasions...cause and effect.

I agree completley except for when you blame the individual you are only stopping the effect, and that's something a lot of people overlook. The real problem is the cause. The way I see it a human is the product of there surroundings, members of their community, and events around them. So instead of only punishing the person maybe try and fix the causes.

God does not punish me. I think of it as a learning experience. If I choose to do something wrong there will be consequences for my actions. I can choose to do the wrong thing but then I must also realize I choose the consequences. No whining, no blaming any one else.
