Since I am not Christian, I have been asked what I believe. The foundation of my faith is found in the following:

Courage- exhibit courage in all forms. esp standing up for what you believe to be right regardless of obstacles and opposition.

T***h- be honest with all people even yourself. Try to never lie even if lying is easier.

Honor- hold true to your word. Keep all promises, act on your convictions.

Troth- loyalty Be true to your God, yourself, your family, and your friends.

Self discipline- Rule your actions by the strength of your convictions.

Hospitality- Always be generous with your God, your family, your friends and your fellow man. Share your gifts, your protection, your loyalty, and your possessions .

Industriousness- work with dedication and commitment. Don't be half- hearted in your efforts.

Self Reliance- Trust in yourself and your own resources. Rely upon others as rarely as you can.

Perseverance- Be stubborn. don't give up until you have accomplished what you set out to do and have accomplished it well.

I don't always live up to these virtues but I try.

What do you believe?

I Believe... That if I eat too much for supper and unbutton and unzip my pants to make my belly feel better, They will fall down. That's why I wear suspenders.

I am a (born again), Bible believing believer in the Lordship of Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour.
This is almost the same believing as you, altho, I recognize myself as a sinner, saved by the work of Christ on the Cross, and He is God to me.
I say this, to make the point that the beliefs you hold are also those things I also aspire to be, but may not ever attain in this lifetime.
others may not accept this way, but that is their choice.

You say your not Christian, yet you turn right around and list God as someone to be true and generous to and with. Can't make up your mind?

Neither Jah or Yeshua has required anyone to call themselves Christian. Yeshua said " believe ".
People who call themselves Christian have no idea what they are saying. They are just as ignorant as non believers.
The word Christian is a term coined by the Romans and when it was first spoken, it was meant as an insult.
To be a true Christian you must be Christlike and without sin. The people closest to being Christlike, are the homeless. Because christ owned nothing. These so called Christians are in for a rude awakening. They have become indoctrinated by organized religion and are void of the t***h in the scriptures.
I can only claim to be a sinner. But I believe.

Interesting WC, but most people here in America speak english as their first language (even though that too is rapidly changing) not Hebrew.

Yeshua is the Hebrew name for the Lord. It means "Yahweh [the Lord] is Salvation." The English spelling of Yeshua is “Joshua.” However, when t***slated from Hebrew into the Greek language, the name Yeshua becomes Iēsous. The English spelling for Iēsous is “Jesus.”

Basically, what this means is Joshua and Jesus are the same name. One is t***slated from Hebrew into English, the other from Greek into English. It is also interesting to note, the names "Joshua" and "Isaiah" are essentially the same names as Yeshua in Hebrew. They mean "Savior" and "the salvation of the Lord."

Calling oneself Christian by definition means "a person who believes Jesus is the Christ". A person who believes Jesus is the Christ would also surely acknowledge first that they are a sinner and in need of Christ as their Savior. I think people that declare a denomination is much closer to what you see as a religious person and, those that have been and are indoctrinated by a religious organization. I see Catholicism as people that see themselves as religious, but would freak if you called them Christians, because they're Catholics afterall. I don't see the homeless as the quintessential example of someone being closest to Christ. It's what you believe, not what you have or don't have that determines whether or not you are saved by grace. A church leader who is a millionaire can be just as lost as a penniless homeless person, whether or not they call themselves Christians or believers.

Welcome SW, I'm interested in how you use faith & God to describe yourself, but don't acknowledge faith in Christ. That can leave much open to conjecture by myself and I suppose others here on OPP. Not that it matters in forming & stating your political opinions here, but you felt it important enough to describe who you are and what you believe.

I say I am not a Christian because I am not a Christian. I would never claim to be of a faith I know very little about. My concept of God is not the Christian concept of God. Not all people who believe in a higher power are Christians.

Because it is the right thing to do. My God holds me responsible for my actions. I believe there is more than just this life.
