Old-schoolers are enamored with the acronym, 'BAM,' and not likely to change...politically correct or not.
IMO, to many of us, it remains a term of endearment for the ladies of our Globe & Anchor...similar to being called 'Jarhead' or 'Leatherneck.'

Well the Marines did fail the Navy entrance exam so I guess that their level of intelligence is rather low and so would be their understanding of what constitutes a term of endearment to women.

Back in the 60s, when I was in, the Corps was spending a lot of effort to k**l that acronym. The USMC considers it offensive.

I could see where some of the male Marines would have received a smack across their chops for using that term on a beautiful female Marine. That would of course upset the upper echelon in the Marines.
