Old-schoolers are enamored with the acronym, 'BAM,' and not likely to change...politically correct or not. IMO, to many of us, it remains a term of endearment for the ladies of our Globe & Anchor...similar to being called 'Jarhead' or 'Leatherneck.'

Slats disagreed again with you. I am surprised he ever found a woman that would have him.

The Sgt. Major is a woman of great tolerance and compassion.

Broad Ass Marine is hardly a term of endearment. Jarhead comes from the haircut and Leatherneck comes from the Barbary wars.

I'm sure the acronym still sticks but only Marines are likely to realize the meaning. Non-Marines who use it do so not understanding how they may be offending some of their listeners. Just wanted to give a heads-up.

as evidenced by allowing you to reside in her home all these years
the woman deserves the Congressional Medal of Honor

Well the Marines did fail the Navy entrance exam so I guess that their level of intelligence is rather low and so would be their understanding of what constitutes a term of endearment to women.

Back in the 60s, when I was in, the Corps was spending a lot of effort to k**l that acronym. The USMC considers it offensive.

I could see where some of the male Marines would have received a smack across their chops for using that term on a beautiful female Marine. That would of course upset the upper echelon in the Marines.
