I have said before, maybe even in this thread, that when I attained the age of 65 I received a letter from my insurance company telling me that I was no longer with them since I had to go on Medicare. For some reason I now pay, out of my Social Security check, just over $110 to Medicare through deduction, and I now pay that same insurance company over $200 a month for the amount Medicare doesn't pay.

The part of Medicare I detest is that it has forced care givers to charge such outlandish rates. They know they won't get the amount they want because bureaucrats at the state Medicare office won't allow what they think they should get so they charge some outlandish rates. I have been watching this go on since 1965 when Medicare payments first started and I was paying the top amount from the beginning. It was so obvious what was pushing care giver charges and nobody ever did anything about it. I have all kinds of proof of what I say from the bills that I have received since I went on Medicare.

Do you have any numbers about how much Europeans pay after retirement, like my $110 plus? Do you have anything to prove that they have as good a system as ours in order to prove that we are really socialistic.

Hmmmm, you say you aren't a socialist and then turn around and talk about how much better the Democratic Socialist Party of Ms. Cortez is. She may run as a Democrat just as Bernie and so many of that group did last e******n. Her name on the b****t was followed with (D) not (DS) as it should have been. Bernie Sanders says he is glad to support her, but then we all know she is like him in beliefs.

Well, you answered your own question in your last paragraph......a Socialist and A democratic Socialist are different....I mean , I'm a registered independent, but I like what Ms Cortez stands for, for the most part..
As for your Medicare, there are obviously different plans, but the fact remains, that it is run by the federal Government...so, I'm not sure what you are questioning. What do Europeans pay after retiring? I don't know....but they have Medicare for all ....its universal healthcare....sounds good to me.....and all of Europe has a longer avg lifespan than the U.S.. So They are doing something right.
And yes....again...we presently live in a Social Democratic system today......personally, I would like to add a little more Socialism to the mix....like every other Civilized Country....we are behind the times on this

I think throwing in Democratic with Socialist is just another way of hiding Socialist. Cortez is an out and out socialist and not much Democrat is in her beliefs. When I looked at those things from her site I became really worried but am glad that when New York and others of the northeast go completely socialist for the state we of the mid-West won't have to go that same direction.

Would I be being unfair if I asked you who pays for all the freebies you keep talking about? Is there a way you can prove that the socialist medical care of the UK is better than what we have? Somehow I just can't understand the downright socialist beliefs of people from the northeast.

I'm not sure why you don't get it.....we live in a combination of democracy and Socialism in the U.S. Right now.....if you don't believe in it.....give up your Medicare...and your Social security while your at it....if 40% of the Country can be on Government run healthcare, why not 100% ?
There is Socialized Medicine in every Western world country on the planet....also Japan, Australia, Canada...it's not just the UK ......and it's obviously paid for by taxes.....is the the medical care better ? Again, they have a longer lifespan than we do...they spend less on healthcare....and nobody goes broke because they get sick.....I know people who've lost homes because they had the audacity to get sick !!...it's not right...and should change

Just so you know the lifespan thing has much more to do with diet than healthcare. Also SS is not Socialism. People pay in. Payments back among the populace are not equal. They are based on what was made during a certain number of years. I can get you the formula if you would like. SS does have one thing in common with socialism It’s going broke.

I started paying into SS about 1945 although little, at that, since I was a box boy in a small grocery store. Also, I didn't get to pay much into it the three years I was in the Army for the time I was overseas. I paid into SS the rest of my life, especially when I was self-employed and still pay into it because of my little janitor's job. Of course, I know a bit more of how they pay since my wife has been on it about 5 years, and I have been collecting for 20 years. She made more, so paid more, as a teacher since she made quite a bit more than I did teaching.

To the bigger point.....again, we presently live in a Socialized Democracy....40 % of the population get Govt run healthcare....as for the rest of the world, we rank behind Morroco in healthcare rating ...pretty lame....we can improve so much, but many people let their ideology get in the way of straight thinking....
