4 Years After Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, EPA Lifts BPs Gulf Drilling Ban

Nearly four years after the BP Deepwater Horizon oil and gas disaster in the Gulf of Mexicoan event that blew away the record books for the nations worst accidental oil spillBP is fully back in business, and drilling is booming in the Gulf of Mexico.

Outrageous! The EPA all too CLEARLY works for the corporations and BIG OIL. Despite all the continued havoc rippling through the ecosystems in the Gulf from the DeepWater calamity, and likely to continue for generations, the Environmental PROTECTION Agency green-lights more drilling? Why? Have there been some developments - such as how to cope with disasters like DeepWater without dumping millions of gallons of even more toxic dispersants? No. Look for more ruination, deformed fish, drowned birds, dead manatees and blind shrimp to come.... I'm utterly disgusted.

It makes no difference if you like foreign oil or not, that is what sets the US price for oil. You pay the price in any event...I would guess you do not have any issue with pollution in the Gulf, which has possibly reached the tipping point now. We have continuing leaks for worn out capped wells and "stopped pumping" wells.. But what the heck, lets keep dumping more into the gulf, can not hurt anymore. Right...

Don't become so apoplectic over a simple oil well. All studies have reported that the Deepwater Horizon oil spill was avoidable, and BP has instituted even more stringent safeguards than the studies recommended. The odds would be very high that such an oil spill from a gulf oil rig will never happen again.

Yes, that cleansing effect comes to mind when I watch some mom wash out the babes diaper at the swimming beach.. Same mother nature at work..11 yrs in Subs is something I would not have liked, means you have got guts.. Congrats to you.. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

Jim, I screwed up, a map was included in the article which I could not get posted. It only showed the deep water rigs like BP had fall apart and a specific type of shallow water rigs.. It shows we have 1000s of these units out and each, should it fail, could be as problematic as the spill BP had... Also not addressed is the number of low level leaks which are ongoing and in total as devastation as a huge spill. Many of these well and projected production will be capped, not sold and that capping is subject deterioration.. This off shore drilling is far more hazardous than the oil co will admit to...
