Are the Democrats ever going to get off this "Everyone is a victim" kick trying to expand government power?

Can we just take care of those who are really needy without total government control of our lives?

Are the majority of the citizens really too stupid or unable to make their own decisions or take care of themselves ?

Does the Federal government really make a realistic assessment of "need" before handing out your tax dollars? Could local government or charities do a better job?

All good questions

Who benefits from a house divided against itself?
While the people are distracted with individual political issues, The government passes a trillion dollar Farm bill, and increased budget and raises the debt ceiling. Wow maybe the government is right we are stupid.
People don't THINK anymore.
Cause and Effect are rarely considered.
People were happy the bills above were passed. The bills didn't fix anything. Hopefully, the people respond in November.

I volunteer with a charity group The Knights of Columbus. Each Christmas we give away $75,000 in food boxces to about 1000 familys in our area. We barely make it though we work on fund raisers all year long. Why? because by nature people are selfish and will not give a thing to charity. No way will charitys be able to feed every poor person or pay for their medical needs. The government need not take control to make provisions for the unfortunate. Having a heart is not socialism.

I like how your statement isn't really a question, as it has no question mark.
Is our "advanced nation" able to determine who lives and dies based on "tax distribution?"

Is this "advanced nation" able to cause or alleviate suffering of pain through collection and distribution of taxes?

It seems to me you have placed the American government before God to be worshipped and served. Even if you are not a believer in God, I think this mindset is kind of a version of Emperor worship, both, primitive and superstitious...

Nice post! I just read the other day that the richest Americans are getting richer, yet they are not giving away anymore than before. Some even less. However it should not be the governments job to take care of everyone. Only the truly disabled among us should be taken care of. After unemployment runs it's course if a person is not able to find a steady job they should be looking to do wh**ever they can. Many people could use help maintaining their properties and would readily pay for help. I did this myself years ago after I lost my job. I drove a cab for awhile into the worst parts of my city where the crime rate is very high just to make ends meet. I did other things too. You can't rely upon government for ever if you are an able bodied person.

The final totals are $59 billion, 3 percent of the total federal budget, for regular welfare and $92 billion, 5 percent of the total federal budget, for corporations. So, the government spends roughly 50% more on corporate welfare than it does on these particular public assistance programs.

Yes and both parties are guilty of corporate welfare. It needs to stop now!

Every year your taxes as well as every one else taxes go up and then we read about how many are on welfare and how many are on housing assistance, electric assistance, gas assistance, free Obama phone and list goes on. Most people feel that if the government is going to steal the money from me then I won't have to give any more. If you went back to before the "great society" I believe that you would find that giving was way higher than today.

Corporations are too big to fail. People are just warm bodys for corporations to use. Use a person up they just find another. They breed like flies.

........and the envelope please. The winner for squandering the nations's treasure is the U.S. military and all of the greedy blood-sucking homicidal contractors attached to it.

630 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!!! The far right would love to put the portrait of chickenhawk Dick Cheney on our new $3 bill!
