One fine day our good friend Bob (who is Bad) grew tired of teasing conservatives and decided to take a walk in the park...

The sun was shining... The wind was blowing... Flowers bloomed.... Trees treed... And all was well with the world...(I mean it's still going to end in twelve years, but enjoy it while you can, right)

After enjoying himself for some time Bob came across his good friend Archie sitting on a bench, reading the New York Times... Next to him, panting in the heat, was a rather large and ferocious looking Pitchihuahua...

Naturally apprehensive around such ferocious creatures our friend Bob debated if it were not wiser to retreat back the way he had come...

But remembering that Archie had made numerous claims as to his ability to raise and tame these deadly predators (Pitchihuahuas are the number one killer of imaginary comfort pets) our friend Bob worked up his courage and approched Archie....

Bob: Say there Arch... Does your dog bite?

Archie (Neglecting to look up from his paper... There was an interesting story on the immorality of clothes - basically just cloth walls, right): Nope

Deciding to trust in his long lasting and mutually respectful friendship with Archie our friend Bob squated down and reached out to stroke the mighty beast's head...

Upon contact the Pitchihuahua leaped up and fastened its razor-sharp fangs on Bob's throat...
A desperate struggle took place... Progressive cis-gender white male against nature's equalizer...

Utilizing all of his skills ( honed from years of posting tastefully humorous memes ) Bob managed to disengage himself from the merciless demon dog ( which promptly took off in search of the nearest 'safe space' to find a second course)...

Dusting himself off, and muttering astring of colorful emojis, our friend Bob approached Archie...

Bob: I thought you said that your dog doesn't bite!

Archie (Utilizing his newly learned second language) : That ain't my dog, eh!

Shheeeesh! I thought I had taken too many flights of fancy with my Sleeve Job story but now I see that style is in vogue. Well done!

I must admit, I have all to do, to not descend into hatred of people like Andrew Cuomo for his signing this Reproductive Rights Bill into law, and those supposedly Catholic politicians, who support barbarities like abortion. As a practicing (I admit I’ve never gotten it right, like all, I continue to be a sinner) Catholic, I believe that these people should be excommunicated. I am ashamed to have to admit that this has happened in the city and state of my birth, New York.

I understand that there is a movement among lay Catholics to have him & his ilk excommunicated. Does anyone know whom I can contact to join in this effort?

No need, they have excommunicated themselves by their actions. Any churchgoing on their part will be in vain since they have abjured God's law. In addition to the grievous crime of murder of the innocent, Cuomo, Pelosi and others have added the sin of scandal.

What is needed is a movement to get our church leaders, including the Pope, to start taking up their responsibility for the moral welfare of their flock. They must speak and condemn with authority, the evil that has been perpetrated.

We, as a nation, have turned our backs on God. I shudder to think of what evil may befall us because of our culture and behavior. Sodom and Gommorah were utterly destroyed for far less.

Sorry Bobby, that is the point of that story. Enough gorey details and endless titillating descriptions, building up expectations and then ending on what amounts to a fart in a windstorm. It was designed to P.O. the listeners or in this case, the readers. Maybe I will try my hand at a different ending; I had to ad lib half the material since I heard this story back in 1954.

Do you know of any good stuff that requires a coat of vaseline? My wife, who had no sense of adventure, wouldn't let me get that kinky!

Anything you don't like is Bull Shit. I don't have a manure pile to send you or the endless amounts of time required to provide you with proofs that you simply ignore. Go straight to hell, do not collect 200 bucks.

My daughter is a "non-citizen" and is still registered to vote in the state of Texas even though we have repeatedly tried to get her taken off the voter rolls. A "non-citizen" is simply a once Texas citizen who has moved out of state. That the state doesn't take them off the voter rolls is the states fault--unless you are suggesting that the Republicans in Texas are committing voter fraud in order to win elections? Is that your accusation?

Honest to god, do you people not read or do you just lack the ability to comprehend that which you do read? Non-citizens are not committing voter fraud. Not in Texas and not any place else in the country...

How did your daughter lose her citizenship upon leaving the State of Texas? There is a world of difference between non-citizen and non-resident.

If it is your contention that the purpose of a life is to satisfy the needs of the greater society then you have defined the role of a drone. Your subject title makes that assertion and the body of your post does little other than to attempt to justify the title.

My comprehension is not the problem. The problem rests in the premise of your posting, i.e., that either usefulness or happiness should be the focus of purpose in living things.

LIFE is the purpose of life. That encompasses all that is. Life is not one dimensional nor is it so in any living thing. Why on Earth would anyone suggest, much less argue, that a one dimensional purpose of being is a meaningful existence.

The author of this piece sneers at the "ratrace" but while attempting to find a different philosophy to justify his existence he selects, as his idols, some especially successful members of the very group he castigates. I am in essential agreement with Bad Bobby's post as well as your last paragraph.

A life of service to others can be very satisfying as in Molther Teresa's efforts in India or Father Damiaan's ministry to the leper colony on Molokai. This however is the exception, not the norm.

I first heard this story in 1954. It was told to me by John LightFeather, an American Indian who was serving in the military with me. At that time, sleevejobs were not common parlance. However the joke lies in the endless descriptions not the sudden denouement
