I must admit, I have all to do, to not descend into hatred of people like Andrew Cuomo for his signing this Reproductive Rights Bill into law, and those supposedly Catholic politicians, who support barbarities like abortion. As a practicing (I admit I’ve never gotten it right, like all, I continue to be a sinner) Catholic, I believe that these people should be excommunicated. I am ashamed to have to admit that this has happened in the city and state of my birth, New York.
I understand that there is a movement among lay Catholics to have him & his ilk excommunicated. Does anyone know whom I can contact to join in this effort?

He could be excommunicated for promoting birth-control as well...
Is the Catholic church a democracy now?
Get enough people to sign a petition and the wheels above start moving...

So do you support this law?

I am still on the fence...
I find abortion distasteful and immoral...
But there are circumstances where it is a necessity...
I wish I could find more information on what is considered 'a medical necessity' or 'a danger to' the mother's life....
Personally I think this is an overreaction to the Trump SCOTUS appointments....
Funny how Liberals like State's rights when they work in their favor....
Cuomo and New York State has gone so far over the edge that the Catholic Church should excommunicate every Catholic member.
If the Catholic Church doesn't stand up it stands for nothing.
Even the Pope should speak up.

The answer to your question is simple. A medical necessity or danger to a mother's life is whatever a pro abortion doctor says it is.

Answers like this make one question the American education system...
Either apply critical thinking to your comments or keep them to yourself...
Canuckus: yes education system has undermined our country.
Example:
Constitution and American history ignored.
Example:
Majority of Dems for socialism, but we aren't taught meaning and results of Socialism or Capitalism.

Agreed...
The education system in the West (I include Canada and many european nations) has been seriously compromised...
Civics and history have been either ignored or distorted...
I would contend that the majority of Democrats are for certain socialist policies, rather than Socialism as a whole...
Canuckus: for certain socialist policies? Ok. But to elect socialists is folly.
Try a little bit of cyanide.
Try a little bit of pregnancy.
Try going from a little bit if abortion to the NY solution of killing babies at the point of birth.

I am dead serious. That is exactly how this law will be applied. Any woman who wants an abortion will walk into the abortion clinic and the doctor will find a medical reason, either physical or emotional to to say it is necessary. You are the one who needs critical thinking if you do not think is law is designed to give any woman who wants one the right to an abortion anytime, for any reason at any stage of development of the unborn child. It is a license to murder.

I am guilty of a lack in critical thinking?
I believe that I stated I am still researching the law and its ramifications...
I have found nothing so far (other than supposition) to support your premise...

To elect socialists is (in my opinion) a folly...

That is because you do not want to see it

Indeed...
You'll excuse me if I choose calm and measured reasoning over panicked outrage..
It's a character flaw...
