Having said that, my strong opposition to Trump has nothing to do with his ideology. It has to do with his outrageous and sometimes criminal behavior. As far as I can tell, Trump is no conservative, he is a populist. He also reminds me of fascism. I have lived through administrations that were conservative before, and no doubt will again. I have never been this opposed to a President before. If Trump were a Democrat, I would still call for his defeat in an election,or removal from office. It's all about his behavior, not politics. I consider most of his supporters to be Trump cultists, because I can not justify his Presidency on the basis of his behavior.
Archie, I freely admit that I am an old fashioned ... (show quote)

Although you directed this to Archie, I feel compelled to comment on your post. Congrats on you being a old fashioned FDR-JFK liberal. Although I would never be one myself, at least both those gentlemen could articulate and communicate their ideas - and do so with a respectful understanding of "the other side". Now I know, or at least believe, both men sometimes were so angered by Conservative/Republican viewpoints that they would scream and behind the scenes berate the notions from "the other side". But these "outbursts" were controlled and even though they may have been filled with VITRIOL and there was never any HATE.

Trump is not a Conservative as you noted. A populist could be one description, but I prefer calling him a realist who could, like a populist, be either a Conservative or Liberal. I would have voted for him if he were a Democrat in 2016 - and I have NEVER voted Democrat in any election since first eligible to vote in 1968. I voted for him because he made promises that I believed he would keep - whereas all the others he ran against had their chance/s in the past - AND NEVER DELIVERED. Moreover, I did not want an additional four more years of Crown Prince Obama type politics. Plus, clearly Hilary Clinton track record showed that she was a lousy Senator, a huge failure as Sec of State, and a poor strategist as she didn't know how to win an election (she forgot all about the Electoral College, whereas Trump understood that you have to appeal to ALL voters not just a select group - like the California, New York voters - to win a national election).

What the problem seems to be for you and other non-Trumper's is that your strong opposition to him (and I quote you) "has nothing to do with his ideology. It has to do with his outrageous and sometimes criminal behavior". That raises some questions. Does that mean you are in favor of his ideology and because he didn't act like Obama, Clinton, McCain, The Bushes, et al, you could not see your way to voting for him? You don't like his kick ass and take names style? You don't like his directness, his in your face attitude and demeanor? These are behaviors that made him successful (even after failures) and I thought long overdue behaviors he would transfer and implement in the oval office. He has done so magnificently.

Hello guys, As I may have mentioned in the past, I used to teach in a Maryland state school for seriously disturbed kids, grades 9-12. I worked with many social workers. clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists. I recently read an article on how to recognize people with sociopathic personality disorder. There are six signs of this disorder. The first is a poor fear response. Sociopaths are pretty much fearless. Fear is an important factor in committing serious crimes . Most of us would never commit a crime because we fear the consequences of such an act. Sociopaths have no fear of consequences. The second is lack of empathy. Sociopaths don't feel sorry for their victims or anybody else. The third is extreme egotism. They feel that the world revolves around them. Number four is manipulative behavior. Sociopaths are expert manipulators. the fifth sign is impulsiveness. If they feel like doing something harmful to others, they will, and finally number six is being callous. They simply don't care about the welfare of others. I asked these mental health professionals if they thought that Trump could be a sociopath since he seems to me to have all these qualities in spades. They all agreed that my diagnosis was spot on! I don't know if you think that Trump fits this description or not, but it scares the hell out of me. If my former coworkers and I are right, the President of the United States with all the power of his office and his finger on the nuclear button is a sociopath.
Hello guys, As I may have mentioned in the past, I... (show quote)

Of your six signs of sociopathic personality disorder that you described, could you give an example of each that Trump has displayed. For example, for poor fear response, I’d say when he stared down the little dictator of NOK or when he cancelled the attack on Iran when it was 10 minutes from execution were fearless. I don’t think he was afraid that what he did was going to fail; so is that poor fear response?

For the second, lack of empathy. I think President Trump has shown a lot of empathy for victims of hurricanes, earthquakes, and other similar natural disasters. He has also shown empathy for people who were incarcerated with unjust long sentences (law change, pardons).

I don’t think President Trump believes the world evolves around him, however, I think he understands the power our country has on the world stage regarding our military and economic power. I believe that he displays a total powerful personality which might be confused for people thinking that he believes the world evolves around him. It also leads people to think he is a manipulator, which he is and has to be when dealing with world leaders. AND, what the hell do you think a successful businessman does? What do you think an employer/employee relationship is, i.e., Doesn’t your boss manipulate you? Haven’t you ever manipulated your boss?

I can give you a thumbs up on this one. His tweets are sometime impulsive, however, give me an example of what you think his impulsive actions have been. Firing Comey? Telling NATO members to start paying their fair share? I’m really at a loss trying to come up with a situation (other than tweets) that he has acted in an impulsive way that has hurt the country.

Now on callous, you are totally wrong. When has he displayed any callousness toward others? So, what has he done, laughed at his someone’s poetry or poor golf stroke? OOPs, he called a few country's "shit holes", yes. But some of them are shit holes. I've been to a couple and understand where he's coming from. To say the places were "shit holes" is impulsive and fearless. OOPs, good gravy, here we go agian again - he displayed two sociopathic behaviors in one action. Oh, you are going to say "He separated children from their parents" at the southern border and placed the immigrants in cages. I guess that he got so much criticism for the separation, by executive order he stopped it. But before signing the executive order, that was the law that even Crown Prince Obama enforced during his time in the oval office; plus, the pictures shown of immigrants inside cages were from 2014. To my recollection President Obama was never called callous for he same behavior that President Trump has displayed.

With respect to “his finger on the nuclear button”, every president since Truman has been evaluated by amateurs and professionals alike with varying opinions. I can’t give you all the statistics, but I’m sure all have had opinions about them that were not favorable in this area. Nobody can predict with any certainty, not even you, what any of them would have done or what Trump will do.

I looked at and analyzed the personality and behavior of a couple of my friends and neighbors (and reviewed my own as well) and found out that all are seemingly exactly like the person you described to be sociopaths. If I had the opportunity to describe and ask the same mental health professionals you asked “if they thought that my friends and neighbor could be a sociopath since they seems to me to have all these qualities in spades”, they would also all agree they fit your diagnosis of “spot on” as in very similar to Trumps.

I think all of us to some degree or another have faults in six of the areas you described, and at some time in our lives have displayed the behavior in some fashion or another. (One time, I made fun of a little red haired girl with huge freckles and pigtails. Plus, I even called the song my music teacher wrote "a horrible mess". I had such a huge ego, I never apologized to either of them. Oh, I was such an insensitive, fearless, land callous kid. Plus, as I grew up, I gained a total lack of empathy toward them.) You, however, seem to have loads of TDS.

Unfortunately, the man who authored this doesn't realize (as Trump does), that all these groups cannot be "eliminated" or "removed" as if you just hit the delete key or by sending in a Mafia style hit team - like the author implies Trump has failed to do (which the author would criticize calling for Trumps head if Trump did). While elimination and removal are the ultimate goals, it will never be done because of the freedoms we have in this country. This is a all a Work In Progress to DIMINISH these groups influence. On this point, Trump deserves to applauded.

Good video from Blue Collar Logic. One of the best I've seen by this guy. https://tinyurl.com/Libs-Need-Conservatives
During the Ronald Reagan years, https://tinyurl.com/Ronald-Reagan, our 40th President, a Conservative and Tip O'Neill https://tinyurl.com/Tip-ONeill the 47th Speaker of House and a Liberal were able to collaborate on many pieces of legislation. This is exactly how our founders envisioned the country working - just like Adams, a Conservative and Jefferson, a Liberal did when the two of them collaborated (with others) to write the Declaration of Independence.
The question is: Will our political atmosphere return to being like Reagan/O'Neill or Adams/Jefferson? It will take two leaders, one from each political spectrum, to decide to sit down and act like "the adults in the room". From where I sit, it won't happen until the results of an an election - when the American people have spoken - are respected.

Trump announced yesterday that the Corona virus was isolated in the US and would be completely eliminated by April. So Cult members, do you believe him, or is this a bald faced lie even you are forced to acknowledge?

May I ask for some clarification - What is the lie? Is it #1, that he is announced that the Corona virus was isolated? Or, #2, is it a lie to say that it will be completely eliminated by April?

It has been isolated in Chicago, see https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/new-coronavirus-u-s-what-isolation-n1122256, so I believe it is isolated on a case-by-case basis. This link https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/02/20/807554441/after-the-diamond-princess-cruise-coming-home-to-a-life-in-isolation from NPR describes "What's it like living with a coronavirus infection, isolated in a biocontainment unit?"

I did a google search on "did trump announce that the coronavirus completely isolated in the u.s.?" and found some links to Trump announcing that Pence was the coronavirus Czar and per CNBC at https://tinyurl.com/CNBC-RiskLow he also said "the risk to Americans is “very low”". All the links to this question can be found at https://tinyurl.com/TrumpSaysVirusIsolated.

So, in all these links I WAS NOT able to find that "Trump announced yesterday that the Corona virus was isolated in the US and would be completely eliminated by April." A real dick-head would say (which I am trying very hard not to be), YOUR ARE THE LIAR; however, I'm not ready to do that because you just need to show me a reference someplace (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, anywhere) that can confirm what you said.

As far as responses from cult member - I really dislike calling anyone a liar until they've had a chance to response / defend themselves. So, respond with THE PROOF President Trump said the virus is isolated and will be eliminated by April. Once you can establish that he said it rather than you throwing crap up against the wall to see what sticks, then we can start looking at if he lied or not. Until then, I can only believe that if TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) were a virus, you'd be on your deathbed.

You don't seem to realize by attaching Trump's name in your post title, you imply that the there was some kind of clash of New Delhi citizens as a result of Trump's visit. This is FAKE NEWS at its best. This is exactly what the MSM does all the time - and exactly what President Trump is talking about. It would have been sufficient and newsworthy if you'd have just said "13 dead, at least 150 injured in New Delhi clashes"; or if it said "13 dead, at least 150 injured in New Delhi clashes over citizenship law amid Trump's visit" would have be okay also. In both examples it is abundantly clear that Trump had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CLASHES. That's news.

1. What is wrong with America as it is? I don't care to be like Canada, Scandinavia, or New Zealand. I don't have anything against any of those country's, however, I've traveled extensively in my life to other places in the world - and I love being an American. But you're not going to get my vote until you can explain your fundamental beliefs and how you differentiate yourself philosophically from Trump. And, hating Trump is not a sufficient. Agree! The new id, as it is being called, is a form of a national id. But, we are asked for an id everywhere already. As Americans, we already must show ids - when stopped by police, for some credit card purchases, doctors appointments; credit card, college & insurance applications; to obtain drivers license or passport; donating blood; certain prescription drugs; out of state debit card purchases; boarding an airplane. Lastly, the one time presenting an id has caused a lot of controversy is to vote! (In some states requiring an id to vote is considered disenfranchisement.) I’m sure there are other instances, but the point is that we citizens of the USA are required to prove who we are nearly every day!

Amy Klobuch Says English Should Not Be Official Language of U.S.

Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said at a recent campaign stop that English should not be the official language of the United States, even though she voted for a pro-English language bill during her time in the Senate.

Klobuchar said at the campaign event in Las Vegas on Friday that she has “taken a strong position against” the English-language amendment, which she voted in support of in 2007, the Associated Press reported.

“I think that when you look at a state like this state, and a country like ours that is so diverse, you don’t want to have that provision in law because then it would be very difficult to have, say, government documents and other things translated into other languages,” she said Friday, according to AP.
“So that is not a position I take. I did vote that way, but way back then, along with many other people,” she continued.

Her policy shift comes a week before the caucuses are set to take place in a state with a large Latino population and an area where Klobuchar has about 10 percent support.
Klobuchar has flip-flopped on immigration policies, once supporting projects like a wall and E-Verify to ban employers from hiring illegal aliens back in 2006.

The Minnesota senator has also been open about supporting amnesty but has hidden her support for exporting college graduate-level jobs overseas.

Well, I bet she wants Russian! She looks like a Ruskie!
Amy Klobuch Says English Should Not Be Official La... (show quote)

I am replying only to the statement because it is an interesting subject. It has been a point of contention every new Congress that is convened has faced. It will probably never be acted upon by the House or Senate. "Amy Klobuch says "English Should Not Be Official Language of U.S.". In 2007, she voted for the English language amendment. I wonder if her policy shift is for political purposes? I.E., gaining the Latino vote. I wonder what the Latino population in Minnesota is? Just asking?

For a google search on "What is the official language of the United States according to the Constitution?" the answer is: “The official language of the United States is English. “Representatives of the Federal Government shall have an affirmative obligation to preserve and enhance the role of English as the official language of the Federal Government." See https://tinyurl.com/sx5r4jr

Some facts that are interesting trivia about the languages in other country's. 178 countries of the world recognize an official language, 101 of them recognizing more than one. English is recognized as an official language in a total of 67 different countries, as well as 27 non-sovereign entities.

Some have more than one official language such as Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Afghanistan, Paraguay, Bolivia, India, Switzerland, and South Africa. Some countries, such as the United States, have no official national language but do have areas where an official language has been adopted.

There are only three countries without an official language. According to the British Online Publication, Indy100, those nations are Australia, Mexico, and the United States. For Mexico, Spanish is the de facto national language. (See more info on this subject at: https://tinyurl.com/English-2ndLanguage)

So, do we need an official language? It is the de facto national language. It would be nice to have an official language, but when there is now over 327 million people, and our founders saw no need to adopt English as our official and national language when our population was more manageable, why force this now. I'd rather discuss having daylight savings time all year.

Gotta Love The Irish

Paddy was driving down the street in a sweat because he had an important meeting and couldn't find a parking place. Looking up to heaven he said, 'Lord tak in case you need an Irishe pity on me. If you find me a parking place I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of me life and give up me Irish Whiskey!'

Miraculously, a parking place appeared.

Paddy looked up again and said, 'Never mind, I found one.'

Father Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and asks the first man he meets, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'

The man said, 'I do, Father.'

The priest said, 'Then stand over there against the wall.'

Then the priest asked the second man, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'

'Certainly, Father,' the man replied.

'Then stand over there against the wall,' said the priest.

Then Father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and asked, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'

O'Toole said, 'No, I don't Father.'

The priest said, 'I don't believe this. You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to heaven?'

O'Toole said, 'Oh, when I die , yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now.'

Paddy was in New York .

He was patiently waiting and watching the traffic cop on a busy street crossing. The cop stopped the flow of traffic and shouted, 'Okay, pedestrians.' Then he'd allow the traffic to pass.

He'd done this several times, and Paddy still stood on the sidewalk.

After the cop had shouted, 'Pedestrians!' for the tenth time, Paddy went over to him and said, 'Is it not about time ye let the Catholics across?'

Gallagher opened the morning newspaper and was dumbfounded to read in the obituary column that he had died. He quickly phoned his best friend, Finney.

'Did you see the paper?' asked Gallagher. 'They say I died!!'

'Yes, I saw it!' replied Finney. 'Where are ye callin' from?'

An Irish priest is driving down to New York and gets stopped for speeding in Connecticut . The state trooper smells alcohol on the priest's breath and then sees an empty wine bottle on the floor of the car.

He says, 'Sir, have you been drinking?'

'Just water,' says the priest.

The trooper says, 'Then why do I smell wine?'

The priest looks at the bottle and says, 'Good Lord! He's done it again!'

Walking into the bar, Mike said to Charlie the bartender, 'Pour me a stiff one - just had another fight with the little woman.'

'Oh yeah?' said Charlie, 'And how did this one end?'

'When it was over,' Mike replied, 'She came to me on her hands and knees.'

'Really,' said Charles, 'Now that's a switch! What did she say?'

She said, 'Come out from under the bed, you little chicken.'

Patton staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Kathleen.

He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful.

Managing not to yell, Patton sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding. He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood.

He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed..

In the morning, Patton woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Kathleen staring at him from across the room.

She said, 'You were drunk again last night weren't you?'

Patton said, 'Why you say such a mean thing?'

'Well,' Kathleen said, 'it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly ....... it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.
Gotta Love The Irish br br Paddy was driving dow... (show quote)

Good ones!! Here's one I heard over 40 years ago told to a group of U.S. Navy sailors by an Irishman in a pub in London. (Of course, I have not told it exactly as he did. But, the punch line is the same). It got a lot of laughs then, I hope it still does.

O’Malley and O’Toole were walking down the street - both quite inebriated again - when suddenly O’Toole walks into the street and is run down by a car.

O’Malley runs over to his drinking buddy and says, “O’Toole are ye all right lad?”

O’Toole replies gasping for air, “O’Malley me long time drinking mate. I think I’m goin’ to meet me maker.”

O’Malley sadly says, “O’Toole, I’m going to miss ye. Is there anything I can do for ye?”

O’Toole says, “When they bury me O’Malley, would ye mind pouring this fine bottle of Old Irish whiskey I’ve been saving for the last 25 years over me grave? Now would ye do that for me old friend?”

O’Malley, in tears but with dignity says, “O’Malley darling, I’d be proud to do that for ye! But I have one question. Would ye mind if I run it through me kidneys first?”

What Exactly Is Wrong with a President Putting America First?
Robert Spencer February 17, 2020
Today is the day we ostensibly remember the American presidents, and as it comes around this year we all know that to say “America First” is racist, anti-Semitic, and evil in all kinds of other ways, and that the best U.S. presidents have been those who were most respected around the world, in places such as Communist China, the socialist European Union, and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Don’t we?

Well, there are still a few dissenters among us. While roughly half of the American population today thinks that the current occupant of the White House is one of the worst presidents in history, an active danger to the nation, there is still that pesky other half, which refuses to bow to our socialist, communist, internationalist moral superiors and regards president Trump as an unparalleled champion of the American people, a true defender of the common man in a way that has not been seen in Washington for many, many decades.

On this President's Day, it’s worthwhile to ask the question: what exactly is wrong with being America First? If the president of the United States doesn’t put America first, exactly which country should he put first? Or should he put some nebulous idea of “global interests” first, with those interests being defined not by Americans, but by the likes of China, the EU, and Iran?

In Donald Trump’s Inaugural Address on January 20, 2017, he declared: “From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this moment on, it’s going to be America First…. We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world -- but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.” In response, neoconservative (and now Democrat) elitist William Kristol tweeted: “I’ll be unembarrassedly old-fashioned here: It is profoundly depressing and vulgar to hear an American president proclaim ‘America First.’”

Profoundly depressing and vulgar for the chief executive of a nation to put the interests of that nation before other considerations? Really? Throughout the history of the United States, most Americans would have found Kristol’s statement somewhere between baffling and treasonous. Yet Trump’s statement that “it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first” primarily, rather than those of the world at large, has been out of fashion since World War II, and in many ways since World War I. It has been mislabeled, derided, and dismissed as “Isolationism,” a fear or unwillingness to engage with the wider world, even as it is becoming increasingly interconnected and interdependent.

But to be America First does not necessarily mean that America will withdraw from the world; it only means that in dealing with the world, American presidents will be looking out primarily for the good of Americans. The term America First has also been associated, quite unfairly, with racism and anti-Semitism. The founding principles of the Republic, notably the proposition that, as the Declaration of Independence puts it, “all men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,” shows that putting America First has nothing to do with such petty and irrational hatreds.

In fact, the Founding Fathers and every president up until Woodrow Wilson took for granted that the president of the United States should put his nation first and would have thought it strange in the extreme that this idea should even be controversial.

Indeed, this is the oldest criterion of all for judging the success and failure of various presidents: were they good for America and Americans, or were they not? This should still be the primary way that the success or failure of presidents is judged. It is the guiding criterion that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Founding Fathers who were not presidents such as Alexander Hamilton would likely use when judging the occupants of the White House up to the present day.

The president’s most important job is clear from the oath that every president recites in order to assume office, and it isn’t to provide health care for illegal aliens, or to make sure that Somalia isn’t riven by civil war, or to make sure America is “diverse.” It is simply this: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

So, what makes a great president? One who preserved, protected, and defended the Constitution of the United States. Or to put it even more simply, a great president is one who puts America first.

Today there is more reason to revisit and embrace the “America First” principle than there has been in a century. Socialism, communism, and nationalism have found favor among some Americans since before the First World War. Nowadays, however, although the entire Democratic Party is embracing socialism and communism, they are still massively discredited as political philosophies.

Accordingly, it’s time the assumptions of the likes of William Kristol and the modern historians who rate presidents were challenged. This is all the more important to do in light of the fact that several generations of American children have now been raised to despise the Founding Fathers as racist slave owners, and to consider American history to be one long record of racism, imperialism, and oppression.

Americans need to recover an appreciation of their history, and for the heroes of that history. Ranking the presidents on an America-First standard reveals that Donald Trump, who was rated the worst president ever in one recent survey and the third-worst in another, is actually, after just three years in office, one of the greatest presidents the United States ever had, if not the very best. And Barack Obama, who is rated in the top twenty in four polls and in the top ten in another, is actually the most damaging and disastrous president this nation has ever had.

This is not simply my political or personal preference. This is the inevitable result if one examines the U.S. presidents while holding in mind the descriptions of Executive power in The Federalist Papers, the nature of the presidency as explained in the Constitution, and the like.

If George Washington or Thomas Jefferson were alive today, I don’t think it terribly hubristic to say that they would largely agree with my evaluations. After all, I’m using the criteria they formulated.

A telling remark here is: "Donald Trump, who was rated the worst president ever in one recent survey and the third-worst in another, is actually, after just three years in office, one of the greatest presidents the United States ever had, if not the very best. And Barack Obama, who is rated in the top twenty in four polls and in the top ten in another, is actually the most damaging and disastrous president this nation has ever had." This says it all. So now all you Trump haters, start your engines going for more hate.
