The U.S. Navy shared an image to its official Instagram page Tuesday showing Commander Cameron Yaste, executive officer aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS John S. McCain, firing a rifle.

The post was captioned, "From engaging in practice gun shoots, conducting maintenance, testing fuel purity and participating in sea and anchor details, the #USNavy is always ready to serve and protect."

Keen observers noticed something amiss about the photograph taken on March 24.

Some critics suggested the fore grip on the rifle could be mounted closer to the gun's center. A few had something to say about Yaste's stance or his ostensible choice to shoot on three-round burst. Most, however, noted that the scope on the rifle was backward, with its cap still on.

Mockery and memes swiftly followed, prompting the Navy to torpedo its post.

Keyboard comedians came out of the woodwork, creating a slew of memes. Other branches also joined in the fun, sharing images of service members firing rifles with properly mounted scopes.

The National Guard, for instance, posted an image Thursday of two guardsmen firing rifles with no comment besides a side-eyes emoji.


The U.S. Marine Corps did likewise, sharing an image of Marines assigned to Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team 1/5, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducting a live-fire deck shoot aboard the U.S. Navy's USS Boxer on April 6. The Marines' post was captioned, "Clear Sight Picture."

The military comedy Instagram page, dearmomimdead, responded to the U.S. Navy's initial post with its own, captioned "HEY NAVY. I FIXED UR SH!T...," which was less charitable than the posts shared by the USMC and the National Guard.

While Task and Purpose made expressly clear that the U.S. Navy "is without equal on the open seas" and has no problem obliterating America's foes when playing to its strengths, it quipped, "If an engagement calls for rifles, Marines will be there to help them out." Task and Purpose then provided a visual indication on Instagram of how the scope ought to have been mounted.

Even lawmakers got in on the mockery.

Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) shared an image of a gun with the barrel pointed toward the would-be shooter, writing, "Navy's newly issued sidearm."

While many evidently found the bungled photo op amusing, others interpreted the error as bad omen, with at least one user noting, "We're going to lose a major war."

An archived gallery of now-deleted images on the Department of Defense's Defense Visual Information Distribution Service shows that Yaste posed with the rifle on at least two other occasions with correction.

After deleting the post, the Navy noted, "Thank you for pointing out our rifle scope error in the previous post. Picture has been removed until EMI [extra military instruction] is completed! #Readiness."

Stars and Stripes noted that EMI is defined by the Nay as "instruction in a phase of military duty in which an individual is deficient, and is intended for and directed towards the correction of that deficiency."

Commander Yaste previously served as division officer aboard the USS Bataan, as weapons and executive officer aboard Patrol Coastal crew HOTEL, and as combat systems and weapons officer aboard the USS Hopper.

U.S. — Lawmakers and powerbrokers across the United States were proud to announce that America's transition to being an idiocracy is currently running far ahead of schedule.

The shift has been in progress for several decades but has made significant advancements in recent years, with many members of Congress now fully on board and operating as key members of the country's idiocratic government.

"We've become morons much more quickly than we anticipated," said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. "Though it initially seemed like an impossible feat, our hard work to turn the United States into a nation governed by total imbeciles is nearly complete. We've succeeded in weeding out the country's best and brightest and replaced them with drooling dolts. There's now light at the end of the tunnel. The dream of a nation run entirely by idiots is within reach."

Proponents of the transition to idiocracy cited the recent statements made by Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee regarding the moon and sun as clear evidence the plan is ahead of schedule. Jackson Lee offered a brief comment on the incident. "What I said is correct," she explained. "Once you realize that cars are made of cheese and rain is actually falling tears from crying birds, everything else makes sense."

At publishing time, Jackson Lee had proposed a plan for NASA to launch a mission to colonize the sun.

The Fat Boy's blather is meant to intimidate and frighten potential jurors along with those working in the legal system to make sure that the public is protected by the enforcement of law and the legitimacy of the courts. What he is saying has nothing to do with his guilt or innocence. It is nothing more than his plan to be such an A-hole that his trials will either take forever to occur or that they won't occur at all. The gag order is not an imposition on the first amendment it is fulfilling the mandate of the 14th amendment guaranteeing equal protection under the law.

The Fat Boy is free to defend himself against the accusations made against him in court. This does not mean that he can make claims independent of truth, post people's addresses and phone numbers and drive innocents into hiding for their safety. Any defendant that tried to do that in the past or even now other than the Fat Scum Bag would be in prison as we speak.

So what opposing statements are causing you to go incontinent? There are many things that are said by the left that I support and agree with. I do so because they have been validated and shown to be true or they have been stated in court under oath. I do not consider conjecture to be valid. I'm sure that there are at least a couple that you can name. Does it have anything to do with Fat Donny the Rapist being a pathological liar or is it more about his unit that Stormy says looks like a mushroom?

Given the fact that Iran was holding American hostages and the money that we gave them was actually a return of the money that we froze when the Ayatollahs threw the Shah of Iran out of power and took other hostages. The upside was that a serious conflict was averted at just about zero monetary cost. The downside was the influx of cash to Iran who could do with it as they pleased including creating more problems for the US. The mitigating factor is that Iran is the fifth largest exporter of oil in the world so they had more than enough money in the first place. The options to end the hostage crisis are very few and extremely hard on the hostages. All you need to do to understand this is to look at Hamas in Gaza.

The US military is the best trained, best equipped fighting force in the world. It was said about Putin that he wanted to avoid army to army conflict with the US because he knows that the US forces would chew through Russia's in less than a week.

There are about a dozen organizations and departments with the initials USSC. What are you talking about? When was the last time that someone showed up at your front door to collect your guns. There is a law that says that a private citizen cannot own a machine gun. 99% of all the mass shootings are done with semi automatic weapons, many altered to be fully automatic. To outlaw those weapons is not a violation of the 2nd amendment in my estimation. Neither is the use of extended capacity magazines, bump stocks etc as those weapons are made for killing people. Nobody believes that everyone who owns one of those weapons is using it to shoot watermelons. If you "believe" that they protect you from the government then you are dangerously paranoid. The only time that a citizen will need protection from the government is if Fat Donny gets re-elected and lives up to his promise to make the US a fascistic autocracy.

Were it not for the actions that Biden took to keep the American people fed and with a roof during the COVID crisis for which the Fat Boy deserves a lot of credit, we would be in the same shape as some of the countries that are really hurting instead of being at the top of the stack. That money has already been recovered in taxes and in the jobs that were created or kept due to consumer spending. Fat Donny wants to give it away again.

Joe Biden will go down in history as the greatest president since FDR and it will be based on his many many, record breaking number of accomplishments. This is by comparison to Fat Donny's which number less than double figures. Fat Donny's legacy will be twice impeached one term president that was the first to ever be criminally indicted and that had to face criminal prosecution. The number of those trials is yet to be determined.
