THE OBSERVER EDITORIAL BOARD

At last, we know how badly photo voter ID is needed in North Carolina.

For years, Republicans in North Carolina have alleged that in-person fraudulent voting is widespread while Democrats have said it is non-existent. But no one knew for sure, leaving the two sides talking past each other on voter ID.

On Friday, the State Board of Elections released the results of an extensive, objective audit of the 2016 election. It found that 4,769,640 votes were cast in November and that one (1) would probably have been avoided with a voter ID law. One out of nearly 4.8 million.

When a federal appeals court threw out North Carolina’s restrictive voting law last summer, saying it targeted black voters “with almost surgical precision,” Senate leader Phil Berger and House Speaker Tim Moore panned the judges and questioned their motives.

“We can only wonder if the intent is to reopen the door for voter fraud, potentially allowing fellow Democrat politicians like Hillary Clinton and Roy Cooper to steal the election,” they said.

The election proceeded without the law’s many discriminatory provisions. Did the judges’ decision reopen the door for voter fraud? Yes, to one person in 4.8 mi

If you really believe an extensive objective audit was conducted on 4.7 million votes, there are more Brooklyn Bridges for sale. That of course is not the question at all. The integrity of our voting system is too vital to leave to chance. Voter I.D. is one of the best ways of preventing one or one-thousand illegal votes. Huck

SCOTUS IS the Supreme Court. There is no jurisdictional dispute, since it is the Supreme Court. These rulings have never been reversed, and the United States Code applies to all US states, and territories. If you are born here to two parents who are here illegally, you are not a citizen. There are only two types of citizens. Born, and naturalized. You are one or the other. In order to be a birthright citizen, you must have one parent who is a US citizen if you are abroad, and one parent who is a citizen or a legal resident if you are on US soil. If you had read the 14th Amendment you would see that section V provides that Congress has the power to modify the Amendment, and it does not require another Amendment.

Then why don't you just set them straight, because there are millions born here to illegal aliens that have been granted American citizenship. The debate will continue regardless of how you want to interpret the 14th Amendment until it is either repealed, are revisited by the Supreme Court to clarify once and for all who is an American citizen - For now, if you're born here you are an American citizen. I believe you are mistaken in that. If you are referring to the 14th Amendment, it was ratified in 1868. All citizens born in the US are NOT given citizenship. This is a misapprehension on the part of Liberal Hobbit Dancers and their allies.
In Elk v Wilkins 1884, the SCOTUS ruled that John Elk was NOT a citizen of the United States, since he was born to 2 non-citizens. In further support is US v Wong Kim Ark 1898, in which the SCOTUS ruled that Wong Kim Ark WAS a citizen, since he was born to 2 parents who were legally domiciled in this country. The United States Code, at 8 USC 1401 requires that one parent be a citizen or legal resident of the United States. The fiction that anyone born here is an automatic citizen is just that.... a lie.
The confusion about the 14th Amendment seems to stem from the wording that "all persons born or naturalized...."and subject to the jurisdiction thereof." Children born to foreigners in this country illegally are NOT "subject to the jurisdiction."
The author of the 14th Amendment, Senator Jacob Howard of Michigan, stated this very clearly in his comments before the 14th was ratified. He said it was solely to guarantee the full citizenship rights to former slaves and their progeny, and did not include foreigners here illegally or diplomatic personnel.

I don't think you can call this Settled Law considering the many debates over Juridiction. Many consider that to mean territorial, more so than sovereignty. If you right or wrong makes little difference until this is settled either by an Ammendment or a Supreme Court ruling. Huck

Also on this date in 1866 all persons born in the United States were given citizenship - major mistake! Until then citizenship was given only those that were born to American citizens regardless of where they were born. Huck

Perhaps the idiots should actually work to improve the ACA and maybe make their constituents less nervous about losing their health coverage.

Then, there are his power grabs: the war on coal, Iranian nuclear deal, FBI investigations, NSA wiretaps, Uranium One, Obamacare, trillions in spending, energy bailouts followed by bankruptcies, giving away Israeli land, oil drilling bans, apology tours, recess appointments, telling companies where they can build and what they can be paid, denied Freedom of Information requests, $150 billion to Iran, firing of military leaders, amnesty, stopping deportations, transparency gone, releasing 201 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, open borders, ignored the Warn Act, transgender bathrooms and Tea Party investigations.

And don’t forget how he handled his responsibilities: Cash for Clunkers, $19 trillion-plus in debt, stimulus package, paygo, GM and Chrysler bailout, Benghazi coverup, Syria, Iran, Yemen, China, Russia, Afghanistan, cuts to the military, Taliban, Hamas, Hellbozah, refugees, Hillary’s email scandal, America’s drop in our credit rating, war on guns, the Middle East out of control, riots and the 1,715 pardons, just to name a few.

Obama the Wastrel has intentionally depleted the military, loaded the government with Muslim Brotherhood Agents even though abroad the Muslim Brotherhood is officially listed as a Terrorist Organization, and has through his UN Ambassador, specifically invited Foreign UN Troops sent by nations that hate the USA, to occupy American soil, with LOCAL UNITED NATION COMMANDERS AUTHORIZED TO KILL AMERICAN CITIZEN AT WILL!

This despicable Obama is the worst of all others who inhabited the White House. He has profaned the Presidency, publicly detested our ally Israel, unconstitutionally dug deeply into the US Treasury to build numerous Mosques abroad, treasonously armed the Al Nustra Syrian Al Qaida lawful enemies of the United States, and is named on the complaint of the Egyptians, as a Wanted Criminal for murder, Terrorism, and Crimes Against Humanity, before the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

The reek of Obama lingers over the paid rioters, the Department of Justice ignoring black on white civil rights criminal offenses in violation of the "Equal protection under the laws" Constitutional provision, and attempted to "Rule by Decree" bypassing Congress by substituting Executive Orders for Acts of Congress.
In time, when all of Obama's treacheries, conspiracies, and abominations against both his Constitutional oath as well as his pretense of Christianity are fully exposed, only the radicalized Leftist Claque will continue to voice high praise for this Impostor who will largely be hated by We The People of the United States of America whom Obama delighted in betraying and being a pathological liar when not vain glorious in his narcissistic mental illness of acute self-adoration far beyond extraordinaire.

Pafret: All forms of government where leadership is placed in the hands of the few regardless of how they were appointed can become an Oligarchy when the few become unjust according to Aristotle. I can see a brain containing deeply implanted socialist seeds in every sentence you right. Karl Marx would be proud of you. However, we know that the antiestablishment hatred within your writing when given vent, never works no matter how many times it’s tried. That’s why socialism is referred to as insanity. It’s not Democrat/Liberals or Republican/Conservatives that makes the deference; it’s an adherence to our Constitution and laws that makes the difference. Huck

WHY?
Why do people with supposedly sound minds continue to do the same thing over and over and expect a deferent result? I’ve been told all my life that that is a perfect example of insanity. Yet, we know this is exactly what is happening in states that are run by Democrat leadership. Their policies and laws have been having a negative and corrosive effects upon the growth and stability of their state, but they only double down and try harder with the same failed laws and policies.

I have been fighting Socialism/Liberalism (one and the same) for over half a century and during that time they have been winning because a majority of our citizens no longer give a damn. As I’ve stated so many times over the years, Democrat voters are more concerned about the price of their next frying pan than they are about who and what they’re voting for. I believe with the election of Donald Trump, even though I think he is unsuited to be President, may have awakened the sleeping giant. The faults and all the negatives of the Liberal Democrat Socialist Party are being laid bare for all to see; not only in the United States but all over the world where it is being practiced. Why do so many think they can make it work when they have been proven wrong so many times over the centuries?

“Where the left Governs, Citizens flee,” an article by Timothy H. Lee, dated March 16, 2017, points out the exodus from deep-blue states that are governed by Democrats. He points out that the 10 deep-blue states that Democrats won by the largest percentage margins – California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Connecticut – every single one of them lost to domestic migration between 2004 and 2014. He also pointed out that this exodus pattern isn’t limited to the listed states. I will point out that it’s probably happened also in many large cities not among these states, anywhere Democrats have control. He state that nearly 2.75 million more Americans left California and New York than entered those states. I believe the records since 2014 would show that migration has probably been on the increase.

We could probably say these states are reaping what they have sowed. “Their chickens have come home to roost,” but if we give this serious thought the end result is very frightening. It’s who is leaving and who is staying in these Democrat Utopias that should really concern those of us who care about the future of our country. We know who is staying; those of a like mind, or those trapped by their economic plight and illiteracy. There will mostly be the takers that are left and their situation will only worsen, because the givers, the builders, the rational thinking Liberty loving American individuals are migrating out from under the heavy thumb of Socialism/Liberalism and migrating to those state run by Republican Leadership in search of the American Dream. There may be a few exceptions as always, but they will be few.

As these blue states turn purple the more fractured and volatile our society will become. These states will be states in name only; they will be failed socialist countries, as all socialist countries do, within the boundaries of the United States and the rest of the country will be picking up the tab. California already wants to be a separate nation. Note: I am a believer that regardless of how the Supreme Court may rule, the various state were under the impression that they had that right to secede from the union any time they chose, or our Constitution would never have been ratified in the first place; I believe I read that somewhere within the The Federalist Papers. Of course Abraham Lincoln had other ideas. I hate to think what our country would be like today if the Confederacy was allowed to exist on our Southern border as an independent nation? Today we could be debating building a wall alone the Mason/Dixon Line.

I’ve mentioned in an earlier post that our laws should never be allowed to be used for our own destruction, but yet that appears to be what is happening. It appears there is nothing much a responsible government can do about it except possibly to withhold funds. Most of the major cities within these liberally controlled states are also sanctuary enclaves for criminal activity within their state. The radically Liberal Leadership within these Democrat controlled states and cities can defy Federal laws by sheltering criminals, would be murderers, and themselves virtually immune to prosecution; Accomplice, Accessory, Acquiescence and other legal terms appear not to apply. It’s conditions such as this that spawn vigilantism and that’s is the last thing we want to happen.

We can now see why Socialism/Liberalism should be subjects for debate only, never actually put to practice. We now can see that the results are disastrous to a Republic.

Who in their right mind would attempt to argue with the quotes of those great minds you have chosen to post. However, I believe on close examination they are mostly referring to Pure Democracy, of which is exactly as you have stated. “Democracy is the tyranny of the majority.” Of course the United States of America was constructed as a Republican that is ruled by representation chosen by the democratic process; this is no guarantee however, that the representation chosen cannot destroy a Republic just as fast as in a Pure Democratic state. Our founding fathers knew the success of our new Republic depended upon electing Virtuous Representation. And in that area we have failed miserably. Huck
