They won't try to appeal the Second Amendment, for example, but what they will (and do) do is whittle away at the "small stuff." A law here, a requirement there, a tax here, a regulation there until they've turned gun ownership into an overregulated, expensive and bureaucratized ordeal, that's how they operate. Then some leftist dumbjohns can say "no one ever said anything about taking away the Second Amendment."

That's exactly the same thing the left does to pursue every agenda they have that would be offensive to the American people. Sneak it in, regulation by regulation, law by law, tax by tax until they have whittled away whatever liberty they are targeting.
