I would Loki's comments above, but I will reprint so you don't have to scroll up:

Perhaps you can find where the Constitution mentions a Department of Justice. The Director of the DOJ is the Attorney General and serves at the pleasure of the president. Congress has to confirm him, but he or she is subject to summary dismissal by the president. 28 USC 503. The office of Attorney General was created By Congress after the Constitution was ratified.

...so why hasn't he fired everybody?

I asked because you believe the president can fire everyone at his (or her) disposal whenever he wishes.

Who, besides Mueller do you wish to be fired? Everyone?

What a ridiculous question. This is no longer 1789. Where in the Constitution are listed Departments of Labor, Transportation, Agriculture, Energy, Interior, Veteran Affairs, and Homeland Security? You want to get rid of them? The nation evolved. Example: In 1789 there was a navy but no Army; but there was a War Department. Cabinets members are approved by Congress on the assumption the Prez is rational. What a ridiculous question. This is no longer 1789. ....How many people does it take to run a government that no one wants?

The president is controlled by the Judiciary and Congress.

Ask President Trump why he doesn't understand that?

I believe that you are the one who said that "Congress makes the laws and the president is not above the law." Congress created the office of Attorney General (head of the DOJ) and gave the president authority to fire him summarily.
This is not found in the Constitution. It is found in US statutory law enacted after the Constitution was ratified. 28 USC 503. If you are unsure of what this means, US law is contained in 53 titles, which were first codified in 1926. 28 USC 503 means Title 28 United States Code section 503. If my question was ridiculous, so was your statement that occasioned it. I answered you with facts, you answered with an opinion that has no basis in fact. Who is ridiculous?

One more thing; the Army was founded on September 29, 1789. Your statement that there was no army is incorrect.

Not 'believe', know. It's right there in black and white for all to read and understand. Except you, you don'r get to see it.

In any case, I don't recall expressing a preference, or even mentioning the name 'Mueller'; and even if I did have a preference, I'm hardly in a position to act on it, being the Non-President. Why are you asking me these nonsensical questions? And why are you attempting to attribute words and actions to me that are not mine?

Did we have our Wheaties this morning?

After the Revolutionary War, the Congress of the Confederation created the United States Army on 3 June 1784 to replace the disbanded Continental Army.[9][10] The United States Army considers itself descended from the Continental Army, and dates its institutional inception from the origin of that armed force in 1775.

That's all very well, but what does that have to do with a President controlling his own administration?

This is all true, however, either way, your claim that there was no army in 1789 is incorrect. The actual date of the establishment of the United States Army is September 29, 1789. There was no United States in 1775. There was not even a Declaration of Independence in 1775.

Yet another superfluous inquiry. You know perfectly well who the 'we' I was referring to is. Now, kindly leave me alone. You know how upset you get when I highlight how intellectually inferior you are to the rest of us.

Obama did say he had a right and he acted like it? Well if he had a right shouldn't he act like it? You are making less and less sense now a days. Your conservative friends are rubbing off on you, too bad...

As your President, Trump has the authority to do no more or less than any other President. Making decisions about who works where in government is under the authority vested in the office of the President. Every President. President Trump is your President, therefore, true to his words, he can do what he wants with the DOJ. He can replace the entire department, from Attorney General on down, replace them with orangutans, and nobody can say squat about it (actually, orangutans might be an improvement).

It is too bad Obama didn't say anything 'like' that, because then he might have kept his mouth shut on much more egregious claims:

As b your /b President, Trump has the authority ... (show quote)

Trump said he had absolute power to use the DoJ any way he wanted. I don't think he was talking about hiring and firing when he made his comment--of course with trump who knows what he was thinking, if anything, when words fall out of his mouth....
