Like LEFTISM, Fascism adheres to a system of loyalty to "the greater good". That pretty much leaves Republicans out.

Mussolini was in fact originally a Socialist, but abjured the international aspect of Socialism, because as you remember the Italian peninsula was just beginning to become united as a nation-state, and Mussolini wanted a unique national identity for Italians. Went too far, of course.

Remember, that search for a national identity, a major step in the forming of nation-states, a step forward in the evolution of human governance, for Europe became a grab for power. Their feeling was "If we don't have power, 'they' will overwhelm us."
