Good story, but you can tell me what the noise is, I am a Marine.

As a Marine, you should already know. I shouldn't have to tell you, and you should not need to ask. How can you be a Marine if you don't know?
Every Marine ever knows what
the noise is. Just ask around. Even
I know what
the noise is and I'm definitely not a Marine (Hard-core Army, maybe, but not a Marine. Anyway, that's a story for another time). You're just yanking my chain, aren't you? Making fun of the 'old dog-face', uh-huh, I get it. You Jar-Heads are all the same. There's absolutely no way you could possibly have made it through boot camp without knowing about
the noise, let alone sew on a set of Staff-Sergeant stripes.
On the other hand, let's say,
against all the odds, that you
really don't know. Let's say that sometime way back in the distant annals of time, you were 'off' that day and were never exposed to
the noise. Why should I tell you? What is it about you that sets you apart from all the others who read this post and don't know what
the noise is, hmm? Tell me that, why don't you? Yes, I see how you are...
OK, I'll tell you what, if you convince me that you're worth imparting
the knowledge of the noise to, I'll tell you. It is a highly sensitive secret, but I will divulge it to a very select few who show themselves to be worthy of such high honor. The standard for attaining
the knowledge of the noise is extremely high but I believe you may have what it takes to carry the immense weight of this knowledge so I am inclined to share, but I must also point out that there are those who would broadcast
the knowledge of the noise to all and sundry thus unleashing forces that only a trained and qualified US Marine should control. If this secret was ever to fall into the wrong hands, chaos would ensue.
OK, now to the test. You must answer one simple question. If you are correct, you will be endowed with
the knowledge of the noise. If you are incorrect, all will know of your failure and your record as a first-rate Marine will be sullied forever. Here's the question:
Why is belly-button fluff always blue. No matter what color shirt is worn, the fluff
always has some blue in it. How is that possible?
Please answer very carefully, much depends on your reply.
