No Kidding! The Marine Corps has Paratroopers??? Whoa! No way! Why have I never heard of this?
Well, I mean, sure, why not? Marines are all crazy anyway, right? Jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft to be completely surrounded by people who are hell bent on killing you and possibly being thousands of miles from the nearest friendly face would probably make perfect sense to them. Compared to some of the 'little scraps' they've been engaged in, it's probably one of the milder forms of Marine Corps combat modes.
Just one question though. I did jump school at the US Army infantry training center at Ft. Benning, in Georgia. Where do 'ParaMarines' get their shot at 'jump school'?

You would be best served to Google 'paramarine.' They have been around since 1940. I will let Google fill you in on the rest. BTW, I was not a paramarine. I will say that, as I understand it, paramarines receive their current-day training at the U.S. Army Airborne School.
So you had Marines at Ft. Benning for jump school between 1959 and 1962?
Honestly, I never heard of this. Marines are generally delivered amphibiously. The idea of Marines being paratroopers is a whole new world to me. I had my 18th birthday during basic training at Ft. Benning in October 1980 (C-5-1) and did AO Eagle and jump school in the November (class 88-80). Then the Army, in its infinite wisdom, decided that I would best serve my country in a mechanized infantry division so I took my first duty station with CSC 2/21st at Ft. Stewart, GA, manning an APC mounted TOW. You might say things kinda went downhill from there...
