For nearly 22 years now, my wife has refused to allow liver to reside in our fridge because she is disgusted by it. The fact I have allowed many disgusting substances to reside there is irrelevant. You know, cottage cheese, yogurt, 2% milk, oysters one time.

Anyway, I made my stand today, and have 4 slices of calves liver in there now, and was wondering if any of you can tell me the best way to cook it. Onions too. Liver, and onions.
My grandmother made the best ever! The stuff I get in restaurants just isn't like hers was.
If anyone can help, I would appreciate it greatly since I'm cooking it tomorrow. Win lose, or draw!

I brown the onions first and then, by making a hole in the middle of them, quickly sear both sides of the liver. I used to enjoy this but, considering how cattle are fed and inoculated today, I hesitate. Because of this I have cut down tremendously on the amount of meat I take in. I've found that just one chicken leg, cooked and cut up, can be added to a rice meal and will make four meals. I like curry too.

I dislike liver in any form, but have a friend who loves calves liver she dips it in white wine before dipping it in whole wheat (stoneground) flour. Sometimes she uses white wine mixed with egg yolk. Then she sears it quickly before slowly cooking it to done. I actually tried it and it was not bad, best liver I have tasted, which is not saying much

Here is my liver recipe--Sliced liver-1 chopped yellow onion--six slices chopped bacon--one small can sliced mushrooms.---Saute onions in butter till tender---in another pan fry up chopped bacon-- remove bacon retain drippings and turn down to low heat--- Add floured liver slices and cover after browned on that side flip over and cover with onions bacon and mushrooms and two tablespoons of water. Cover pan. Simmer till liver is done. Very tender and moist . no catsup needed.
Sounds good !! I don't often get to eat "liver & Onions" as my wife like so many others dislike it. Almost a month ago her youngest daughter husband and brood moved forty miles away which made me unhappy. Mamma drives up there every two weeks or so. I have since learned that those visits actually do some good as they give me a short vacation thus allowing me to enjoy my favorite treats. One being "liver & onions" that along with fresh raw oysters, Cajun music, and all things that seem only to please me. As a result I now look forward to my wife's 'visitations' of which "It stands to reason" If you take the time to think things out you just might come out ahead of the game. I shall now get back to "shuckin and suckin dems oysters! along with "Caguama"beer

I love me some liver, and onions, but the feel of a raw oyster in my mouth just gags me. Maybe a texture thing.

We have my Grannie's sugar cookie recipe, written in her own hand Mr. Counselor.

Family members from Texas to California have tried to emulate it without success. Best sugar cookies ever made.

Maybe we can't get it right because she isn't here to make them for us. That's what I think.

But she left a little of her sweetness..Just can't beat that!!

Sorry, can't help with a recipe, I'm with Mrs.B on this one...

My father made it every Friday with butter, bacon and onions..SautΓ©ed the onions in the bacon grease, then drained the grease off, cooking the liver with the rest of it...Yuk, yuk, yukkk....

Just watching that liver wiggle around in the frying pan was enough to make say oh no I am not eating that stuff...
He made us sit at the table and eat at least half....lol..Our two dogs then we're never happier...

You can keep the liver but I like oysters on the half shell with hot sauce ....Or a horse radish red sauce this little place I used to go in Chi~Town...The best it was.

Mrs. B. loves chicken livers wrapped in bacon, but won't even look at beef liver. She also eats some kind of liver baloney looking stuff that I can't stand. I also allow that in the fridge!

Boy, she's really gonna freak when I start putting rabbits in the fridge! They are like cockroaches around here, and I'm about to start eating them!☺

If it's raw it isn't food. It's bait.😐
