So Peter, before Trump is even inaugurated or had a chance to enact a single policy you have him labeled an authoritarian. And yet, though we just suffered through 8-years of the most authoritarian leadership in my lifetime, you can't even acknowledge there may have been times when Obama overstep or acted tyrannical. "I don't need Congress, I have a phone and a pen." Ringing any bells Peter?

Petersucker is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

This is a great read. I agree with this guy. https://www.change.org/p/end-predatory-healthcare-pricing

I agree with you both Jim. I would also add that insurance companies colluding with government would need to be stopped.
How do we get to the transparency part as long as that is going on?
We can armchair quarterback it all day long, but can we fight the money involved?

[so raise taxes, for God's sake.

No tax raise I am tired of supporting dead beats. Go back to the old system and tweak to make more cost effective and and workable. Sound ok to you dick?

Do you really think private insurance would be less expensive if the insurance companies had their way?

It's a huge pot of money. I've read, but have no idea how true it is, that the health care sector of the US economy is 15 % when one adds up the private and gov't sector.

I can only imagine how serpentine all the rules, regulations, insurance codes of all the various bureaus and departments and providers and insurance companies, etc. etc. end up. How does one cut that Gordian Knot?

Arm chair quarterbacking is actually useful I suspect if it gets us thinking about it. And I suspect that whatever happens during a Trump administration concerning the ACA (alteration, repeal), this issue is going to come up again in a couple or four election cycles.

Just my $.02.

I think you're right WCS. This is something that won't go away. I just don't know if the government can fix it. Too many fingers in the pie. You may be right about administrative costs eating our asses on this. There has to be a way to streamline it, and cut that down. I don't have the answer. But I damn sure don't trust the federal government with it!

Oh, no, you're not a lone voice by any stretch. I like that 'nothing' part as well, and I'm not the only one. Nothing like telling government to just get the hell out of the way. Problem is, this is such a tangled mess, no-one is going to be able to put it right without hurting a bunch of people. No matter how it happens, there will be pain for someone, or actually, many someones. You can't just sweep nearly 1000 pages of legislation away and not expect serious ramifications. Of course, it should never have been enacted in the first place but that does not make it any easier. I guess we'll just have to pass the repeal legislation so we can see what's in it, right Nancy Pelosi?

You are talking to the choire=usewillow]Just another step in their ultimate take over plan...1. make the majority dependent on the government "We are there" 2. make the money used virtually worthless. "We are there". 3. Keep the people afraid or in fear of attack "We are there". 4. Disarm the population "We are not quite there but they are working daily on trying to do so. Those steps are all t

That makes no sense. Obama Care not the Affordable Care Act raised costs for many. To now argue that under the old system costs went up makes no sense.

Once again, it needs to be pointed out that Obamacare is merely another name for the ACA. And, yes, before ACA/Obamacare was passed premiums WERE going up.

Well, it didn't come about just in 2008 - Hillary Clinton tried to force it on us when she was First Lady and luckily an international crisis sidelined her attempt. That being said, I agree with you 100% - we don't need to replace it with anything on a federal level. Let the states determine how to take care of their uninsured if their voters deem they should...per the Constitution.

Actually I think health care coverage for all started with Ted Kennedy. He was a huge advocate of government health care.
