Where is all of your outrage about "big government"?

And yes, trump is not yet sworn in, so imagine what kind of crap he will be pulling on idiots like you, investors and management. And workers will get the ultimate screwing.

And you assholes are in denial about what chump is going to do.

REUTERS – The U.S. government lost $11.2 billion on its bailout of GM when it sold its remaining GM shares according to a government report released in April 2014. The $11.2 billion loss included a write-off of the government's remaining $826 million investment in "old" GM.

The U.S. government spent about $50 billion to bail out GM. As a result of the company's 2009 bankruptcy, the government's investment was converted to a 61 percent equity stake in the Detroit-based automaker, plus preferred shares and a loan.

Treasury whittled down its GM stake through a series of stock sales starting in November 2010, with the remaining shares sold in December 2013.

"The goal of Treasury's investment in GM was never to make a profit, but to help save the American auto industry, and by any measure that effort was successful," Treasury Department spokesman Adam Hodge said.

And yet the lefties are now crying bloody murder over the Carrier deal, which VASTLY pales in comparison to the billions taxpayers lost on GM contrasted to not losing a dime on the Carrier deal.

>>snip<<

Obama created a taskforce upon taking office to determine how to proceed with the auto companies. They had three options: no further government assistance; more loans with no strings attached; or more financial resources on the condition the companies would restructure. In both cases, the third option was chosen. The administration had a heavy hand in the restructuring, forcing the sale of Chrysler to Fiat and requiring GM to fire its CEO, close plants, shrink staff and eliminate lines like Pontiac and Saturn.

The general consensus from both a legislative panel and experts is that the intervention by the administration kept both companies out of long, drawn out bankruptcies that could have resulted in the liquidation of GM and Chrysler. That likely would have impacted Ford as well (Ford didn’t take government money, but lobbied for GM and Chrysler to receive assistance, noting that the three automakers shared parts suppliers) and threatened the U.S. auto industry existence.

It’s impossible to know what would have happened had the administration not stepped in. However, it’s fair to say right now both companies are profitable and American car makers are in stable positions. Additionally, a $9 billion hit is less than the $24 billion loss the Treasury predicted in 2011.

>>end<<

Note, prior to Obama's intervention GM and Chrysler were predicted to collapse which would have taken the parts suppliers for the entire auto industry with them--the same suppliers that Ford was dependent on--so everything related to auto production in this country was threatened to disappear if not for Obama stepping in. So the 9 billion actually lost is minuscule to what could have taken place. And, by the way--everything loaned under Obama was recovered--it's the loans made under Bush that were never secured...

Whatever Trump does, it will be a hell of a lot more than Obama has done in 8 years, and he won't try to take credit for saving jobs that Congress saved with their actions and funding, having Obama only oversee the disbursing of funds, and he did that through bias and bigotry against conservatives and Republicans. And by the way, the deal was for 1,100 jobs plus, and the tax breaks are deferred over 10 years ($700,000.00 a year), with job incentives that have to be met every year, while Carrier has to spend between $16 million to $22 million to remodel and upgrade the plant for much more production capacity, which will then need more jobs to be filled, and the state of Indiana says they will get back their investment of only $7 million dollars in deferred tax breaks in just 4 years, saving those 1,100 jobs plus, and their families livelihoods, and many more jobs in the future to come in the upgrade spending by Carrier, a dream deal that any state would love to have.

Fewer employees involved, but it looks like business has found a way to get what they want from trump. Look for "corporate blackmail" to become the standard for the trump business plan.

Meanwhile, trump and his fools at fox continue to brag about how many jobs were saved, and the real number seems to be closer to 800, while another 1300 jobs will be phased out of Indiana and sent to Mexico.

Now Rexnord is making their demands or they will ship 300 jobs to Mexico.

what will trump do, oh what will he do?

Remember what trump just tweeted;

The president-elect also vowed that "companies are not going to leave the United States anymore without consequences." So what consequences will trump impose?

The auto bailouts, which were initiated by former President George W. Bush but largely overseen by Obama, were unpopular at the beginning of the Obama administration.

The president has moved to take credit for the bailouts as they have become more popular following the turnaround of the U.S. auto industry.

“Betting on you was the right thing to do… And that bet has paid off for America, because the American auto industry is back,” Obama told workers at a Ford plant in Wayne, Mich.
Ford was the only major U.S. automaker that did not take a bailout from the federal government when the rescue money was issued in 2008 and 2009.

The bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler were first initiated before Obama was inaugurated in 2009. But the Obama administration has attempted to take credit for them as the U.S. auto industry has improved its performance in recent years.

Randy,

The jobs are 700 to 800 remaining in Indiana... 1300 will go to Mexico... Expansion will take place in Mexico.... United will get more DOD contracts... There are not job incentives to the tax cuts.

Trump had nothing much to do with it... Only Pence could give those cuts to carrier... Trump only cares about Trump....
