Some states have insisted that those that are healthy and able bodied must put in so many hours a week in public service in orfer to collect their welfare checks. In those states the welfare role went way down as those that were on welfare either went out and got a job or else moved to a different state.

The old man just got another address to satisfy the law. He is still there banging the old lady and knocking her up with bastard babies. When the bitch, as he calls her, gets fat and old and there are too many screaming kids hollering Daddy, he leaves and moves on to the next one.

There was a case in Virginia whereby a judge sentenced a man for as long as he could for violating he law. After the judge threw the book at him, he said, "I do this to keep you off the street and keep you from fathering any more illigetimate children." By that time in his life, he was responsible for well over thirty offspring.

The big problem since the anti-American, communist ideology of Alinsky, Cloward and Piven invaded our free-market Western civilization, sam, "to bring America to (her) knees," is that the single mama is paid a good fee from the American taxpayer, per child, quite frequently, [for the professional], mostly minority, "entitlement" families, the Welfare "train" never stops. Hell, "BHB" is STILL in Public Housing!!! Hummmmmmmmmm.

Glaucon,

Does anybody realize that there are other sectors of our culture that receive welfare assistance from Uncle Sam? Corporate America receives, each year, close to one hundred billion dollars. This is far more then we spend on welfare, food stamps, etc. Nobody says anything about that operation. When I was in school, I was always taught that a business sinks or swims on its own by whether it makes a profit. Big oil companies receive subsidies from Uncle Sam, The Defense Department receives hundreds of billions of dollars and big corporations like G. E., and others, pay very little taxes on their profits. Now, you know how some of these fat cats get money for their big salaries and bonuses. Yes, the American taxpayer. He gets nothing and has to shoulder the burden for these leeches. In order for them to get even more money, they send their jobs and operations to places like China, Mexico, Vietnam and the average Joe looses his job. When a person, man or woman, is doing the work of two people and asks for a raise, he/she is always reminded that there is another person waiting to take their place or China is more than happy to receive their position. This garbage has been going on for thirty or more years.

The point that I am trying to make is that this mentality has to stop before it destroys our nation's economy. The debt just keeps getting bigger and bigger each year. The American people are angry about this crap. This is why Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump have resonated so well with the American people. They are addressing issues that fall into this category. The political winds are changing and business as usual is no longer the order of the day. It is going to take the will and determination of the American people to bring about change. I just hope it is not too late!

There were so many things that we heard that were either half truths or complete lies when we were school children, weren't there?
The whole Honest Abe thing? He just had others do his dirty work.
The omission of info about not just the building of DC but the manpower involved in running it by slaves.
The sexcapades of so many presidents.
Well, you know, I am sure.
I wouldn't claim, however, that we get nothing for our tax dollars; not enough but not nothing.

The thing is it is a catch 22 if you collect massive taxes from large Corporations like GE prices on every widget they are involved with will rise. What you and others that scream about evil Corporations fail to realize is, Corporations don't pay taxes, they merely pass it on to the consumer if the form of embedded tax in the price of that widget.

As far as public assistance I am all for it when used as intended the problem is unenforced abuse.

Glaucon, I seldom agree with you, but I believe you are "spot on" with this post. I have been fortunate in my life and I believe that is because my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ has kept his hand on me. I dont say that to be preaching, it's just my personal belief. I don't feel I am better than anyone, no matter their station in life and no one is any better than me, including politicians of any party.
I hope you have a good week.

Just like the rest of us, GE or Google, or Yahoo could simply have a bit less money to spend after paying their rightful amount of taxes.

Why would we enforce abuse?

If some abuse public assistance, should we punish the ones who abuse the system or deny everyone assistance? Isn't that the choice we have to make?

They are Corporations, not people, they are entities. What is so hard to understand?

It is passed on to the consumer (you and me and the rest) in the price of their product. They work off profit margin so if you charge them an extra 2% tax then the price of their product or service will go up 2% as well. So when you go to buy a GE light bulb you will pay that 2% at the checkout stand. So in reality you will be taxing yourself.
