One thing I like about this forum is for every liberal dim bulb like you there are a hundred thoughtful, intelligent people who can discuss contemporary issues. Perhaps this is the wrong place for you. Maybe you should make your posts on MSNBC or the NYT's website where they will find your comments witty and thoroughly researched.

Maybe andrew998 was making a point about all the angry hostile musket rattling that comes from the far right. This should be a place for diverse opinion and vigorous debate but can we leave out the personal abuse and thinly veiled threats? I would ask this of all sides but it appears impressionistically at least to be coming mostly from the far right.

So trying to say that all of the conservatard posters are thoughtful and intelligent? Judging by the content of their posts, that does not seem to be the case.
Perhaps you would be more comfortable posting at world NUT daily or the american Stinker. Their idiotic posts seem more in line with conservatard/teabag thinking.

Excellent point Eden, and I for one would gladly put aside my partisanship, however I will not tolerate the constant Obama bashing just because he is president. Disagree with his policies if you must, but denigrating or his wife should be off limits.

There is another angle to this as well. Those that oppose ACA also want no abortions. Then, can these additional welfare babies they want at least have health insurance, maybe even financial assistance if needed. But then they cry if the welfare rolls increase. Go figure.

Yeah, unbelievable, the very group of people who oppose people being on SNAP, Welfare and other government subsidies are contributing to their existence. Not only do they oppose ACA and abortions, they object to poor women being on birth control.

When the Obama administration told Rep. Jodi Laubenbert (R-TX) that keeping poor women on birth control would mean fewer abortions and cut down on poverty, get this, she replied "that must be governmental math".

Some states have Medicaid to help with welfare babies, but it still cost taxpayers $10 billion in 2011 for unplanned babies, and $11 billion in 2012. Again, the very group of people who oppose taxes are creating many reasons for taxes to be increased. This just boggles my mind, seriously this is just unbelievable. I just do not understand their thinking.

While I can't criticize the content of all conservative posts here, judging from your remarks they may seem idiotic to you because of your inability to comprehend their remarks.

What's to comprehend? Idiocy and lunacy dominate most if not all conservatard posts. For example, there is never ending Obama/dem/liberal/progressive bashing. As if repukes and teabags never ever screw up.
If you want to claim objectivity at least be rational. If not, go hump some conservatard's ankle, and quit being such a dogpile.

Who wrote the actual bill? That would be a bunch of Democrat elected politicians working with lawyers who make the legislation incomprehensible to nearly everyone. As you pointed out, even Nancy Pelosi, one of the chief architects couldn't tell you what was in the bill on national TV. President Reagan knew all too well what happens when too much government gets involved in just about anything. He once said he would have liked to see what the Ten Commandments would look like had God run it through Congress first. You can bet the farm it would not look like anything we recognize today.

My main problems with all of this are two-fold:

1. The Democrats violated the Constitution, their oaths of office and their own established rules to cram this down our throats by deeming it passed in the Senate. I won't go into the voting fraud which gave the DEMs a 60 seat majority here, but just by mentioning it, it adds to the fact it doesn't pass the smell test.

2. As most typical of Washington pols, the legislation empowers government, not the people to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. There was so much that could have been done to reduce the costs and access to affordable health care through established market means, but then again, that would have empowered the individual and not Uncle Sam. The socialists in Congress would not hear of it and the fix was in. Poll after poll shows ObamaCare, in its current form, is as popular as fiberglass underwear with the public and many unions who supported this monstrosity. Unless something is done quickly, America will have to get ready to grab her ankles.

If I complain about something and don't offer some solution, it makes my position basically worthless. Here are some things that could have been done to drop the cost of health care:

1. Open competition across state lines;
2. Advertise procedures and treatments;
3. Allow chambers of commerce to offer group rates to small business;
4. Make premiums tax deductible;
5. Tort reform;
6. Increase access to Health Savings Accounts (HSA);
7. Reduce the required amount of record keeping (about 1/3 the cost of health care);
8. Make health insurance subject to the anti-trust laws (only the NFL and health insurance are exempt!);
9. No free health care for illegals;
10. Create a policy for the working poor based on their income. To be eligible for a subsidized policy, you must be a) American b) Working (no illegals or freeloaders). This would provide private health care, give incentives to work and provides mobility from employer to employer.

These are in no way the only ideas which would drive down costs and improve access, but it would be a good start. I am certain there are many other creative people who could come up with more ideas which would work to keep the government bureaucracy from being the public's primary care physician whose bedside manner would be that of the IRS.
Who wrote the actual bill? That would be a bunch o... (show quote)

You have some outstanding suggestions that would have worked quite well but not in the eyes of pols and insurance companies. Your bolded words are the best of all your suggestions.

I agree. Civility seems to be on permanent vacation. I do not agree with the actions of many pols on both sides but I see no need to pass judgements on the persons worth as a human being just because they say something I disagree with. As for denigrating their families and children that is absolutely the most tasteless low class behavior. I was taught in the military that you are saluting an officers commission not the man under the cap and rank insignia. Same should be for the President. Due courtesy and respect should be extended to the office regardless of who holds it. Calling the President a Liar in the house chamber is nothing but punk behavior and only served to give the opposition GOP a political black eye. I used to be a teacher and as any teacher knows, little children yell at each other that they are DUMB as a way of demonstrating their lack of an effective response to a problem or frustration.

The GOP need to sever the rotten limb of the right wing crazies, cauterize and and get their act together if they have any hope of being a viable political institution.

I love the way you say things like the bolded words and follow them up, immediately, with these words. As if repukes and teabags never ever screw up.. I guess you just don't see the resemblance in the two things, both from your mouth, fingers, or whatever. You don't type with your left cheek, do you? :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

It's far less important regarding "who wrote Obama care" than who voted to pass it into law. Those votes are part of the Congressional Record and available to any citizen interested enough in his citizenship to seek that information. However, it's not for the lazy and apathetic. All they know how to do is wring their hands and say "What'll I do now?" Here's the crux to the issue: A Congress that sees each other voting "for" and follows its perceived leaders, rather than care for its constituents, is a Congress that will shove a bill right down your throat...and they did with minority exceptions!
They didn't read that bill, those 2700+- pages were written to confuse while Democrat leaders whipped the elected politicians to vote for it and everything will be just fine in America. This is a lazy, irreverent Congress, led by a lazy, irreverent, America-loathing President. Pelosi, in her perpetually stupid way, was at last being as honest as she could be, "We have to pass it to see what's in it." She has the mind of a programmed robot.
How many reading this would sign a contract brought to you, unauthorized, no chance for your attorney to read it, and you're told just "sign here" and the sun will shine for you always, and that this piece of contract is the best contract you'll ever sign in your life?
Well, enough Americans gave Obama and that corrupt Congress a blank check signed by those who voted for these crooks. Whether you think your own elected representatives are fine people or not, there's a possibility that they're not, that the oath to serve you and this nation was strictly a means for a career with lifetime benefits.
