I guess it isn't the size of the deficit, it is only the person in charge that makes the difference.

It is obvious that you have been listening to Jim "dimwit" DeMint, well here are some really hair raising facts that should burst that hubris bubble of yours -- most of the red states are the poorest in America.

1. Mississippi
Unemployment rate: 10.7% (4th highest)
Percentage below poverty line: 22.6% (the highest)

2. West Virginia
Unemployment rate: 8% (tied-25th lowest)
Percentage below poverty line: 18.6% (10th highest)

The richest states are blue states with the exception of Alaska.

1. Maryland

Percentage below poverty line: 10.1% (2nd lowest)

2. Alaska
Unemployment rate: 7.6% (22nd lowest)

I guess you failed to read all the facts. 39% of all African Americans live in 9 Southern States.

Those African Americans can't work if the jobs are not available. And another simple fact is that they are being taxed along with other low income people in red states while the GOP governors give tax breaks to the rich.

Not only is poverty a red states "badge of honor", they are also the most food insecure states for children per capita. And those states with that honor are New Mexico, Arizona, Georga, Florida, Arkansas, Nevada, Texas, South Carolina, and Mississippi.

Maybe you should go to Feed America - Child Hunger Ends Here http://www.childhungerendshere.com/ and make a donation to help those starving children -- I did.

Poverty is not a badge of honor anywhere. Your comment was beyond stupid. And New Mexico , Florida and Nevada voted for Obama

Poverty has to be a badge of honor for the GOP-- they keep taxing the poor and giving tax breaks to the billionaires and then they wonder why so many people are on food stamps and welfare. Now that is complete illiteracy.

Yes, NM, FL, and NV did vote for Obama, but they still have Republicans governors, state senate and state congress.

Well I see you are a good parrot of standard left wing one liners. Did you know Cheney was not speaking in an economic sense but in reference to elections? He even clarified by using Reagan as an example. Running huge deficits and easily winning a second term. Same with Obama. So in the sense Cheney meant deficits don't matter to the electorate. The deficit comment was in political context not economic. Educate yourself and stop being a good parrot

The current GOP Gov in New Mexico has been in office for 1 year. Before her it was Dem Bill Richardson for 8 years. How is the GOP taxing the poor? The very first tax hike Obama and Pelosi passed was a Massive Tobacco Tax in April 2009. Guess who smokes more than any group? THE POOR. Democrats raised taxes on EVERYONE

If you want to truly compare GOP and Democratic economic policies, pretend that McCain Palin had won in 2008. The economy was as follows:

1. Unemployment increasing at 750,000 jobs per month.
2. Every bank and broker bankrupt or on the brink
3. 2 wars raging with lowered taxes so we could not pay for it with no exit strategy.
4. Real Estate prices in a downward spiral with no end in sight.

Now, lets apply the policies of the Republicans to this and judge how it would have played out.

No TARP, "Let 'em fail, they deserve it" would have prevailed. So 52 (or more) companies in the financial sector would now be going through Bankrupcty Court which will probably take more than 10 years. Meanwhile, unemployment is increasing even more since the bankrupt companies can't pay the employees. Lower taxes for the wealthy would not have accomplished anything of note. Try to revive the economy from this point without a financial sector to use. Do you see where these policies lead us?

Any Republicans who think I am wrong about something above, please comment.

Oh really? TARP was passed by BUSH before Obama was in office. Democrats controlled House and Senate. Head of Senate Banking Chris Dodd was getting VIP Loans from Countrywide. House head of Banking Barney Frank never said one word about impending crisis and in fact defended Fannie and Freddie Mac claiming NOTHING WAS WRONG. In 2004 Democrats blocked reforms for Fannie and Freddie and the video is sickening.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- After two weeks of contentious and often emotional debate, the federal government's far-reaching and historic plan to bail out the nation's financial system was signed into law by President Bush on Friday afternoon. Oct 4 2008

Dave don't expect anything from them except the one line propaganda they are taught to parrot.

Are you for real? Democrats raise taxes on the rich, not the poor. You really do not know what your party stands for do you? Let me remind you -- the rights mission statement is "We take from those with less and give to those with more."

Taxes should be raised on tobacco no matter who the smokers are. Paying more for your cigarettes should be a great incentive to quit. Too bad Speaker John Boehner hasn't gotten the message.
