There really does need to be an official definition of religion.
I don't really trust congress to make that definition but it needs to be made. Otherwise dog fighting and cockfighting groups as well as sex cults, queers, and any other oddball groups can claim to be a religion. There needs to be a way to define bona fide religions.

The first amendment prohibition against laws respecting "the establishment of religion" has been defined, I believe by the supreme court, as a prohibition of tne congress making laws that establish a state religion. Its purpose was to prevent government from establishing an official state religion like the Church of England was.

If the first amendment prihibited laws regarding religion or the free practice of it, there could be no laws against beheading, stoning, marrying babies, abortionist killings, rape or any other lewd or horrible crimes perpetrated in the name of religion.

There DOES need to be an official definition of religion. That definition should not define Islam as a religion.

Now that's how it should be! The people who come to this country want Americans to adapt to their ways of life and customs. They need to remember they came here. That mayor should be applauded for doing what's right. I wish we had some politicians with a spine like the mayor of Quebec. I bet Canadian liberals are blowing a gasket. I love it when pushy immigrants have to abide by the laws instead of letting spineless politicians change them so as "not to offered anyone". Score one for the GOOD GUYS!!!!

you are right and wrong. Islam isn't a religion that's true. But the Muslims hide behind it for political reasons. Islam is a way of,(perverted), life. Growing up in the middle east and America has allowed me to see the side of Islam that very few Americans know about. The peace and all that garbage they spout here is totally different in Muslim countries. It's death to America, Israel and any entity that doesn't bow to these low life's. The sad thing is our politicians are selling us out. Democrat and Republican. And for what? So somebody's feelings don't get hurt? Tell that to the families that have had a loved one beheaded by these scumbags.
