You never know, whilest engaged in a conversation, that a bit of trivia or an important fact will come in handy. If nothing else,it will give the illusion that you are intelligent.
I too will enter another room and forget what my intended purpose was.But at least I got some exercise and,at my age,I need all of that I can get. Zeno

True story. I have a friend who had been talking on the phone with another friend. They were trying to remember someone's name but couldn't . Tired, they hung up and went to bed. At 2 AM my friend's phone rang. She said "hello", and the other end said, "Ed Green" and hung up. I love that story, and knowing those two, it DID happen.

As one of the elderly, I must say Thank You. You have answered one of my questions about this aging process. I must say I like your explanation better.

An 8o year old woman walked into a police station. She walked up to the desk and said she was raped. The officer asked when did this happen. She said forty years ago. he said what are you reporting it now for. She said I don't want to report it, I want to talk about it.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age. It just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information stored in their brain, scientists believe. Much like a computer struggles as the hard-drive becomes more full, so humans also take longer to access information, it has been suggested.

Researchers say this slowing down is not the same as cognitive decline. The human brain works slower in old age, said Dr. Micheal Ramscar of Tubingen University in Germany, but only because we have stored more information over time. The brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know more, but just may not be able to access the information.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise!

SO, THERE!

As people get older they have seen a lot in life. They have seen so many things in life that do not mean anything anymore. As I grow older I think less and less about the things I used to think were important. There comes a time when all the things you did in life are not important anymore. You get close to the end and finally figure all the things that are not important anymore. You just want to enjoy what time you have left because you finally realize things were not all that important anymore. You enjoy the relief of old age.

If we were to include operating the boat among our duties, what would be left for the squids to do...fix chow?

There has to be something for the Navy to do.

I walk into the kitchen then stand there and ask myself what did I come out here for.
