Because then they wouldn't be in control of the narrative. Facts can be stubborn things, they refuse to 'change' just because they don't fit a convenient version of events. By keeping all the 'evidence' to themselves, they can control what parts are released and what parts never see the light of day. Like the fact that the Wikileaks emails were copied onto a USB drive. That was never supposed to be discovered because it doesn't fit the Russia hacking narrative. Give Julian Assange his due, he kept his word to never reveal the source. Even when it looked pretty dim for the truth finding the light of day, he declined to give out any 'clues' to who the source was. The only comment he gave was to confirm that it had nothing to do with Russia.
